It seems I have arrived at the 11th hour. However, it would seem several members of this Council, do not understand the ways of the Wanderers of the Woods, and therefore see enemies where none are.
Greg has been appointed caretaker of the Hullack Forest, by being the Guardian of its Grove. He does not own it, it is not his, anymore than the Kings Forest is mine, or the Redwood being Soppi's. We are the custodians of the balance in each forest, the others as Great Druids, I as a squire to the Spirit of the Forest.
It is by our work that the wolves do not become too plentiful and thus begin stalking the roads, that there are still meat and animals to hunt. In the case of the Hullack Forest and the Curse of Tethgard, it is the burden of Greg to ensure that these slaad do not spill further into the forest, or begin spreading to other areas.
It is not that others are not allowed to travel into the Hullack Forest. It is to ensure the slaad eggs do not spread, for if they do, then I assure you, our country will soon be facing something far worse than an angry druid.
I hear from the Clerks, that in these files, you both demand that we as the Wildwalkers deal with the situation, but at the same time, wish to tell us how. Are any of you prepared to face the dangers of the Hullack Forest every day, to hinder the spread? To keep the werewolves and other monsters at bay? Greg is the best defense this country has against the darkness of the Hullack Forest, because few alive understand it, every single grass straw, as he does.
If you have something you wish me to ensure that he does, if some of you wish to accompany us in our battles, by all means raise your voice. If you have genuine concerns, let me hear them, and I shall see to it, as the voice of the druids on this council.
But just as we do not, or in the future at least, will not try and dictate how Eveningstar is best governed, the training methods of the Precepts, or will interfere in the enforcement of the laws in the city, do try and show a bit of respect towards those who maintain the world outside your safe city walls.
It is I and mine who patrol the roads, forests and meadows, keeping the foul at bay, keeping the world in balance, and ensuring you and the people have something to eat, or can travel to and from Eveningstar without being eaten by starved animals.
