Familiars cause transition lag
-
It seems that if you have your familiar out and transition, it takes significantly longer for you to load through than it would otherwise. Have absolutely no idea why, just that it's something I've noticed.
-
Happened to me with a bat familiar. Took like 3 minutes to load each area in Arabel. Haven’t tried with a different familiar yet.
-
Pretty sure you aren't meant to be able to transition with familiars
-
We mean we crossed an area transition with our familiar summoned. Like with any other summon.
-
AH, sorry thought you meant AS familiars
-
I helped Zool test this some and it is indeed causing transition lag.
-
Yeah this is super weird and I have literally no clue.
My suggestions:
-
Ask in the EE discord if this is a known issue and has a workaround.
-
Delete familiars and stop caring
-
Delete familiars and script a custom system.
(I was able to reproduce this bug pretty much 99.9% of the time)

@zool 4th suggestion - only use them for their spells and don't transition with them?
-
@gdardog Well, they can be infinitely summoned now, (unless they die) so you could just drop them then resummon them.
Problem is, I had a familiar that I needed to keep out for roleplay reasons, and is used stealth (which I also needed to have on, to avoid it being seen by others characters)
So.. if I couldn't transition, I would be re-summoning it, ruining my ability to keep it stealthed.
This is just one reason why that;'s not really a viable solution. Works for the players it works for at present though, yeah.

We did some work on this recently. Is this still an issue?
-
@echo Last week someone had the issue, if its been in the past few days I can test it

We did?
I have literally no clue how to fix this, mostly because I can find no code that could possibly be causing it, just, no source whatsoever, so nowhere to even begin looking
-
@zool I thought Deth worked on it? He just told me he was waiting on a "time and date" for when it was happening, preferably live so he can monitor it.
-
Can confirm still an issue! I don't have a mage but there are a few around who can help...?
-
Will need to test this live with Deth monitoring the server's 'Matrix' stuff running so he can see what's happening.
