My favorite playstyle.
-
A lot of players here have seen a lot of characters through the ages, some maybe even on different servers. While everyone might have their favorite character there are many reasons to like a character, events that happened to them, the players they got to interact with, the game mechanics around the player, and of course the general feel/playstyle of the characters rp.
My question is, what is your favorite playstyle…. barring all the other factors and your fav chars put aside.
Do you like the sly cunning smoothtalker? The big dumb brute, I'm curious. -
Chaotic, daring, interesting, cliche characters. So many people try to make uber realistic characters that blend in with the crowd a little 'too well', and can come off as being bland. A villain that tells the good guys all his plans when he has them captured, only to have them escape! (of course). A knight that has a problem with drink and tells his comrades his every fear. Strange names, weird builds, odd fashion sense and memorable actions are always more interesting to me then "oh that guys a tower shield and long-sword fighter right?"

I really like to play the 'Hero.' The one who exudes confidence and bravery, a person that people look up to, respect, and go to for advice (whether it's good or bad.) By no means perfect, but an example for others to follow nonetheless. I don't play evil very well, it's something I tried and failed to do, and maybe some day I'll give it another go. But not likely anytime soon.
I haven't really had the chance yet in V5 to play the Hero, and I'd really really would like to give it a go, but it just never really seems like the right time to do it. Maybe it's something I'll do next, if it feels right.

Blank slate that lets the story change him or her, with a back story well in place for him or her.
Since I don't do evil well, I tend to gravitate towards the good side of Nuetral and the chaotic side as well. Two of my favorite PC's have wound up multiclassing, not because the build was so much awesome, but because it made sense to do it within the characters story. I also tend to prefer longer term characters, ( nowhere the longevity of Darlene :-) ) because I get to meet and interact with more people, and I hope learn more to enhance my RP style. Not much for PvP. but its mostly cause I can't build a survivable character than anything else.
in one word.
Conflicted!

I like to play good guys. Or bad guys that want to be good guys. My bad guys that like to be evil are actually just bad at it. But either way my style leads to one thing.
The Fugue.

Loud mouth uncouth asshole is my all time favorite.

So many possibilities…
- Stupid half-orcs or anyone rolling something mad and stupid. Love it.
- Strict hierarchy with titles either succumbing or on top of it. It always adds a lot to chars if they follow such.
- Very religious pcs are also fun.
In general pcs that I play or see others play that come with punch-lines. Draw lines between factions on the server are my favourites. Not so much the sly ones as only a little fraction will get the joy, but if they give an eerie wipe, then they got my thumbs up obvisouly.
One who stands watching another get beaten up by one he either hates/love or something else and does nothing is boring. But one who does action of either these:
1: "Yea! That's how you do it. Just smack him more on that pretty face of his.
2: No, show mercy, show grace and have it end. This is not just. It is madness!
3: RAWR! Fall you FIEND! (followed by attacking the tormentor, defending the mutilated pc, be it friend or foe.) -

Screwed up anti-hero's are my idea of fun!
I do enjoy characters who are cleared pushed and pulled by external forces, rather than characters who seem to be following a strict plan regardless of what happens. You also know someone is really awesome, when it seems everyone and there uncle plots are based around them, with Cole and the Red Scarfs being one of the more recent examples.

Anything I have not done yet, I like to just make a different type every time being as far away from the previous one as possible.
-
I don't always play PCs, but when I do I steal all the e-gurls.
-
Minions of all types. I like helping others with their goals.
Once in a while, I try something challenging. Usually doesnt last long but still! Don't know if you can pull it off until you try. -
I like playing minions, usually evil or neutral bent. Never lawful.
I also like offbeat, quirky characters, unique and non-standard builds.
-
LG NG CG LN TN CN unlikely protagonists.
I don't do evil very well, sadly.
-
Tried lots of things, but usually I have more fun with boisterous, noisy characters, be they evil or good.
-
one style for me..cautious and observant
secretly manipulative and a unknown uncredited (and unpunished) leader is a thing of the past now, used to have some fun with it, but i cannot see a place for it in this version of arabel

I like characters with long-stretching goals, which have well-defined stepping stones (sort of like 'establish a laboratory' or 'assemble a cursed gauntlet', although I am quite satisfied with simple checklists). They're not very boisterous about their goals, and usually just chug along quietly.
Because they're not very loud about their goals and sort of in the sidelines of the great main conflicts (usually just the guy getting mugged twice in the 'arch' and otherwise barely or not registering on the Big Bad's OR the Big Good's radars), they usually stop when life gets busy and I stop being able to play. But then the few steps taken are usually worth the time invested.
I don't like to play the loud, famous, sword-swinging Great Heroes or the Great Villains everyone wants dead because, simply put, I don't have the capability. I'd look like a Red Eyeball trying to convince everyone they should fear it 'cause it's totally a Beholder. Laughable, somewhat pathetic, but eventually no more than momentary comic relief.

Evil second in commands. Plotting. Scheming.
I did love to play a retainer. Which is basicly an evil second-in-command, even when not evil.Of course, nothing beats taboo-infested Uthgardite Barbarian.
