hi i remember you..you were even in rav's journal, but that was before i started putting in real drawings
you rremember my character Rav?
@amy-veln said a lot of what i feel, i try to limit when i explore now, i have found a lot of things that can see invisible characters, and even with my summons i do not fully feel safe in many areas, i still try to explore, but the distance i will go is limited to how long my duplicate spells last, the exploring set, and when they wear of, the ones to get me home
there are a awful lot of things in the land now that can see you while invisible, and i am discovering more as time goes on. in the past if i came across a new creature, i would sometimes test it, or retreat depending on where my characters spell situation was at.. far too often i find myself scrambling when to my horror i find a creature that can see me, and i have found a few of them, granted the creatures according to their kind should be able to see invisible, but that is taking a toll on my in game morale when it comes to exploring
i do not like the idea of a wipe, but if it were what is needed to save the server, i guess it is needed
keeping that in mind who will a wipe remove from the playerbase as to who it will bring in? but sitting in the server 1/96 something needs to be done. but i have made my suggestions to the point of irritation
from one of the remaining, i guess i must be one of the vile garbage.
numbers attract numbers, i will not mention what i suggested numerous times in the past, no one needs to hear it one more time.
guiding and helping new players will be paramount when this is turned around, there will always be grievers, cannot be helped, just make sure they do not set the rules and drive away plyers, i had people in the very distant past send me tells telling me i have to do this..ie: follow them other wise i was metagaming..we no longer have that problem, our problem is numbers
bottom line..in a single phrase "numbers attract numbers"
there is no end to suggestions on how to make this happen
i seem to remember that, also when i say i am idling, sometimes i am wandering around aimlessly.
these are only suggestions coming from someone who has no real idea how hard things are to make and drop into the game, but they are things that might if done right may extend the time people stay in the game, and that could attract more people to pop in for a look.
as i said i did find one new player a short while ago, but i am not sure if they decided to stay. i did try my best to guide and aid them, there was not a lot i could really do though as i am a bit clueless now to what all can be done in game...i do miss the old deliveries that required some travel, they did take time and travel and it was a good way to guide and get to know new characters (that was the person who had the aspiring "black guard")
i have made this suggestion numerous times, more solo delivery travel quests, how about a small amount of xp for people in the game for every minute they are on..make it small, but a tiny amount might encourage people to idle in the game. numbers attract numbers, i will sit in the game idling hoping to attract others and now i try to send a tell when someone comes in. (it does not have to be a lot, make it 1xp per minute or something like that and as a person levels up, make it 1 xp per two minutes and so on as they get higher levels, make sure people get something for staying in)
these little things may help, make sure the instructions and links are in the log in thing for the server in its description thing, subscribe to get the downloads here kind of thing
lots of good ideas, myself now, i am lost, helping new ones if i even find them is a bit of a issue aside from some in game enchantments.
i did run into a new player about a month ago, tried to aid them, in game and out of character, they were making a blackguard (my thoughts were..not the easiest thing to start with, but i never let them know that) i hope they have returned, but i did impart as much as i could
what do others servers do? perhaps someone who frequents those, or even having someone look at another server to see what might work for us. also making it easy to get into the server is always the first step. too many downloads on a server that has 0/96 is not going to attract anyone if they have to do downloads, or at least make it easy to find and institute
i have said this before, and i will beat this dead horse yet again, having people in the server will attract others, and to achieve this having some time consuming solo quests..like the delivery kind for all levels, will keep numbers in the server, doing busy work, which if there are numbers, may attract people, and once learned it would give me a way of showing new players around, with these tasks. it is a win win as i see it, people doing solo stuff that they can show to new characters/players. make a few of these like they were in the past, no level restrictions, even it is gives 1 xp for higher levels, it gives them something to do, and if it only gives 10 gold, that is enough to rent a room, so that i do not have to count pennies in game to make sure i can continue to rest in the inn to heal and renew spells and abilities (counting coins is a limiting factor in me buffing people in game and it has been this way for some time, and please do not tell me i could make a fortune making and selling stuff, one i am lazy, two who do i sell the stuff to now when i am 1/96 at times)
till numbers are at a more manageable level, it might be well for all players to consider making characters and factions that are not going to lead to PvP, maybe have people work together against a defeatable foe or some common goal. in the past PvP may bring fun for some, but i do remember in the 55/55 days there was a attitude, if they do not like losing leave or do not PvP,
and i know after each event 1 or two players would leave, either sore losers, or people in the wrong place at the wrong time. and there were the grievers, and there will always be, but we are not going to attract those types, they like crowds, so we do not need to worry about them chasing people away
