Suggestion: Preventing common encumbrance
-
Raising the limit of weight you can carry on your pc from 5-10% for each STR increment. Seems unlikely to be consequential and I imagine helps quality of gameplay. Some of the community has voiced their concerns through other mediums so I thought I would post here for constructive discussion! :)

Not sure there's a way to do that - unless NWNX has a solution. I know it didn't exist in the past but a lot has changed.

There is, actually. You can adjust encumbrance weight, think it's just a 2da tweak @Zool

Cool, can be discussed then.

This was already discussed and rejected. https://nodebb.cityofarabel.com/topic/51754/raise-the-amount-of-weight-a-player-can-carry/5

not to mention magic bags are everywhere ranging from -20 to -60%.

If I could just throw in my opinion (since it's a suggestions forum anyway) encumbrance is the worst thing about NWN. It serves no purpose in its current form other than detracting from fun. I get the need to prevent players from running around with 12 suits of full plate waiting for people to sell it to, but a 5-10% increase would make a -ton- of players have a better time playing the game without allowing for anything crazy.
Quality of life is important when you are competing with servers that have many more players. Wouldn't we all rather be RPing and doing fun stuff rather than taking more time to walk from point A to point B?
In my personal experience on CoA I've had to, on multiple occasions, turn down, give away, or even toss DM loot because it weighed too much for me to carry. Sometimes I'm lucky and DMs are nice and will put weight reduction on it, sometimes they won't and I wind up tossing their custom gear. Which sucks for everyone involved.
This is not a plug for my immediate benefit. It isn't a problem for me right now because I can simply cast Bull's Strength without caring about spell slots and continue on with my day. That isn't true for everyone.
I will spare you all a further multi-page rant on how much encumbrance detracts from the fun of NWN.

@ShiftingWillow Magic bags are -everywhere- And you can easily get -60% weight bags. i've found them pretty often, just gotta join the treasure hunts ;P

I understand there also might be concerns with caster pcs not investing at all in str as a result of an increase in weight limits. Honestly, I am not familiar with the process of these changes but it sounds like you may be able to skip over increasing the weight limits for someone with an 8 str?
As far as magic bags, it does seem to be more of a necessity than a convenience for a fair amount of pcs(usually having to manage multiple bags). If the dm team would like to dismiss the suggestion as it has been brought up recently, I understand and appreciate everyone's feedback! :D

Magics bags were put into manage weight. Factions have storage too. If you want to carry more or play a character that can carry more
- Invest in strength
- Put stat gain into strength
- Buy/Find a magic bag
- Join a faciton
- Pay a faction to rent space
- Stop carrying so much stuff
Short answer is this is not likely to be changed.
