Prestige Classes: What's Wrong?
-
@spiffymeister Well, I'd just stick to what was produced for PnP.
-
@Mr-Moloch What do you need as far as putting the hak together? I've been looking into how to compile haks from components of other haks using nwhak.exe, but my knowledge is still fairly limited. Given the right parameters and enough time, I'm sure I could handle that for us!
-
Mostly, just pull these classes out of the PrC; edit the appropriate class 2das. It'd be the kind of tedious work that is good for just learning how to adjust and handle haks.
-
There's a few 2das that need editting.
classes.2da
a custom CLS_FEAT*.2da (which would need to be referenced in the classes.2da)
Maybe the same with a bonus feats table.
Also, if the PRC needed a specific and unique attack bonus progression, or saves progression, those would need making and referencing too.
if it needs spells it get more complicated, with them requiring their own spell table (and if we made custom spells, actually using haks, then those would need adding as well though we dont use that right now for reasons)You'd need a prerequisite table as well, though this would mostly be blank except for the custom variable, this could just be copied from our current ones, as we removed the pre-requisites.
You probly need packfeat and packskill.2da's as well.
You can mostly work it out, by looking at the 2dasource.zip and the classes.2da.
You'd need to remember the custom weapons as well when doing anything feat related if they are a melee class.
-
@zool Noted. I'll have a gander and see what sort of magic I can do. No timeframe, just something I'll check out in my spare time.
-
You probly wanna have a totally separate install of NWN on your machine if you do it, as taking things out and putting them back in again so CoA doesnt explode or any other server for that matter would be pretty tiresome I suspect!
-
PRCs/Custom Classes aren't too difficult, it just depends on what you need them to do.
Class features in the Player's Resource Consortium are done via feats granted at those levels, and I'm not super familiar with custom feats. A straight Mystic Theurge is quite 'simple' - the main problem being Sorcerers get fucked over, as they'll only ever get Spells Per Day, not Spells Known. (Wizards get the same thing, but they can learn from scrolls so it's not a problem.) The Player's Resource Consortium solved this with their feat-based spells and conversation-spellbook - same way they solved the Custom Spellbook problem/Warlock Invocations/etc. We could, presumably, do the same thing. But do we want to?
Not to say custom PRCs shouldn't be done! I want them, too. Hell, it's even possible someone's solved this problem over the years and I'm just not familiar with it, that'd be nice. Or NWN:EE might fix spellbooks.
Either way, I'm happy to assist as well, if you'd like. Been meaning to learn feats anyway.
-
Favored soul, MUST become a class on CoA! I loved the class in NWN2
-
Favored Soul, Archivist, etc. are the kind of classes that would require a custom spellbook.
-
Favored soul was a base class though.
-
Rather a moot issue if no one can put together the hak. DM team probably lacks the time to do it.
-
@mr-moloch Good news, I know (mostly) how to do it now! The real question is, what PrCs will the team want to add? I imagine we should gauge player interest (see above comments) and go from there.
-
I would suggest at least 3 types per race, such as caster, fighter and specialist PrC. Then about 10 general PrC classes to round things out
-
I'd focus on NWN2 stuff at first.
Base Classes
Favored Souls
Warlocks
Swashbucklers
Spirit ShamanPrestige Classes such as
Arcane Trickster
Eldritch Knight
Frenzied BerserkerAlso
Mystic Theurge
That's my personal wish list, and most of this can be done by stealing/copying NWN2 data points. Mystic Theurge may be the one that is hardcoded impossible, but I'm not sure.
-
I demand Thrall of Orcus.
-
Spur Lord of Cyric.
I mean, what even needs discussing?
-
Mystic Theurge, and any arcane-progressing classes, will only really have problems with the sorcerer, you just might have to make more scrolls available for the wizard. Divine-casting classes aren't an issue since they have their whole list available.
If this isn't solveable through NWNX somehow, the solution may be to just not take the PrC as a sorc. I don't think we should let that stop us from having those PrCs, you might just have to give sorcerers other cool things instead.
-
There's a thread I made to be a wishlist and to split it off from here, please use it, guys!
-
I'm fairly sure you can literally add spells directly into spell books using NWNx.
-
If so, that should solve our problem, since default spell progression does progress spell slots. I don't know anything about NWNX though.
eta: Though presumably it would still need a way to choose what spell you want, that could be done via conversation I assume.
