Wanted? How to make the game not become dreadfully dull OOC
-
Quit is not the same as "retire".
Retire implies you had some plan for the character, some goal. Aim to achieve that goal at any cost, clearly your end game should be near, since you got exiled anyway. So finish off the story.
-
Retire your character.
Typically, being exiled is the first indication that your character is about to enter into :
A). a blaze of glory in which he is defeated in some nefarious plot.
B). a period of dull decline in which you slowly grow bored.
So, the exiled, IE characters who take the risks of making powerful enemies, as opposed to being friends with everyone, and are proactive enough about it to attract legal action, eventually will have the option between "Fail" and "Grow bored, then fail"?
I can certainly see why you'd want to be proactive and take risks, if those are your possible outcomes! -
Theres also the option of a blaze of glory and taking over ano entire area, or destroying a faction, or something epic, after which, you'd likely retire (like Kreswell, not that he was exiled) so those arent the only options no.

Take a look at Kreswell, or the Slime Cult.
Sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet though, so I'll assume you wanted to be funny rather than insulting with that comment though.
The thing is, as with any character who is amazing, eventually a time comes when your story is done. Lots of people don't get that, or simply prefer not to be that amazing. Those who really want the best rewards and attention the DMs have to offer will quickly learn we gravitate toward the most amazing and fun characters, but that's just the DMs. Everyone can play however they want.
The sad part is, some people who choose not to play a style that the DMs are interested in gravitating towards and rewarding think there is some "DM clique" or that the DMs are ignoring them personally. Truth is, DMs do this job to have fun, characters who have grown 'dreadfully dull' for their player usually became dreadfully dull for the DM weeks or months earlier. Sometimes, honestly, we find some characters more fun to interact with than others. Being human, we'll move towards people who exhibit the playstyle we've always said we enjoy–-while doing our best to make sure everyone still gets included or rewarded for their own playstyle.
Whereas, people who are out creating some proactive fun get quests designed for them, loot built specifically for them, and the possibility of leaving a permanent mark on the server that will be around years later--and THAT is the reward you get for playing an awesome proactive character who is prepared to go down in a blaze of glory --- on the chance of gaining incredible success.

Yes, but the DMs are all human, except Moloch who is.. well, lets not reveal that too soon!

Spoiler alert

Ignore the exile.
I don't mean wander in the east gate like nothing can stop you but come in disguise via other routes and don't hang around the guild or sheriffs tower. -
Bribe the Sheriffs.

There are multiple entrances to the city, and you could pay people to get what you need from there

My NE exiled PC managed to convince a LG character (who was of the faction that got her exiled) to sneak her into the city on many occasions. ;)

I find being an outlaw and being exiled or otherwise hunted for execution to be the most fun way to play. It makes it impossible to be bored when at any minute you could be ganked.

+1 AWESOMEMAN

I just ignore the banishment. :P Run around in the sewers and listen for sendings to crash.

Being wanted can be entertaining depending on your foe. I recall the Multitude having summoning fights almost daily with War Wizard Shadusk.
If you take risks and nag your enemies and plot with your allies, being wanted can be interesting. And if one of your friend gets busted and thrown in jail, prison breaks are fun to organize. Especially if you got a bulette. nods nods
