    • RE: On Escalation

      @Candric:

      So basically, if you have no reason to get involved, dont, and if you do, by all means?

      No.

      If you have a reason, then get involved. If it would be IC, then get involved. If it will make a great story, then get involved. Having said that, consider how you get involved, and get involved at an appropriate level, and most importantly, respect your fellow players and work to enhance their enjoyment; for in doing so, you will gain more enjoyment.

      @senseitravis:

      Laughing and setting someone to full damage kind of sounds like a lousy way to pay someone back for trying to oocly set up a scene with you to entertain folks.

      I think that behaving badly to your online buds in the name of your personal "immersion " seems a bit out of whack with how we generally like to carry on here.

      Seems you have things right in my book, Sensei. Nothing wrong with courtesy to your fellow companions on this server and lots wrong with discourtecy.

      Respect goes an aweful long way.

    • RE: Immersea Property Inquiry

      The librarians report that no books on the subject of Ilmateran temples have been written in the last few years. They also comment that they have no books on Grundo, but that a bounty would be paid if a sufficiently literary work were written on the subject.

      The librarians wander off bemoaning the lack of decent authors in the recent past.

      In notepad you can change the ".txt" dropdown to say ".*" If you do this, you can then save it as hosts and not hosts.txt. Deleteing hosts and then renaming hosts.txt to hosts is also valid, but more long winded.

    • RE: Recent out of character PvP

      OOC before or during PvP is sometimes necessary to establish terms, such as "Do we want to set FullDamage or BeatDown" etc.

      However, it does damage immersion for everyone concerned. If possible, PvP should be run without OOC, but with full consideration and manners, respecting the player of your opponent. If you don't respect the player of your opponent, there will be issues that surface causing bitterness, rage and other nastiness. Play hard with your PCs if this is appropriate, but play nice with your collegues. Anything less is just not acceptable.

      Finally, lets see you asking for DM oversight for your PvP sessions. There are times when it is required and you may not PvP without it, such as in areas where there are NPCs - including all built up areas.

      We have lots of DMs on now. If we watch over your sessions, even when there are no NPCs around, we can cool things off as the OOC heats up. This is as much for the protection of the instigator as for the victim of the PvP. It's for your protection!

    • RE: Player Courtesy with Bell Dings and Sendings

      OK

      If you have been given the privilege of a Bell in your faction, you are expected to respond to them. This is in two ways.

      1. IC - In a DM faction, one of your responsibilities of being in a DM faction is to run the business of the faction, which involves answering the bells. If you cannot be bothered, we can find someone else who would like to be in the faction instead of you. If it's IC not to answer the bell, you need to consider whether it is still IC for you to be in the faction. You gain benefits from being in the faction, those benefits come with duties and your NPCs do not allow you to skip those duties.

      2. OOC - If you cannot respond IC, then you need to be courteous and respond OOC with polite tell informing whoever rang the bell that you cannot attend because XXX. There are times when you cannot attend the bell. This is not an issue. All we ask is that you are courteous to your fellow players.

      Not sure that this needs any further discussion. It should be happening. In some cases it is, but obviously not enough.

      Get to it, Faction Members. Look after your faction!

    • RE: St Alubrien Order?

      Miss Dulac is informed politely that it would be more approriate for him to approach archivists in the Order itself. He is shown a rather beautiful map, the height of the cartographer's art, of the North Eastern Farms and a certain manor house is pointed out to him where he might find the Order and so further the enquiry.
