Back in the day, you could get a TR for about 10k. Id make ressurection could around that. As a SERIOUS Gold sink, and something you would need everyone to “offer gold to”.Also yes. Up the EXP penalty Big time. I wouldnt mind it double what it is now.

I would probably suggest also making Raise dead and Ressurection penalty rises the more time it takes you to get someone to a priest(Until it caps at 15%). Or even stop being available after X time.
This could also force players to consider going to a player to be raised.

lets go back to the old xp penalty for deaths, its never been easier to level up.

This would punish people too much, I think. Especially those in quiet time zone where there is no PC priests, or those who are playing late and at some point need to go to bed and wait for a raise the next day. Let's not punish people because of RL, pretty please.
Bringing back TR at a very high price (15k+) would be a good gold sink.
Raise dead at 2k and resu at 4k?Personally I find the % of xp taken fine. With respawn, you almost always lose a level. But then I Don't quest that much. If it get changed, please make sure it is still worth it to get raised xp wise, with all the hassles that comes with it getting a raise. (quiet TZ again... sometimes you are stuck waiting a while before someone can raise you...)

Or people can respawn and we remove NPC raises entirely, and disable raise dead from PC clerics.

I dunno, I feel like bringing the dead back to life should be a substantial miracle that entire religions develop a following over. <_<

We presumably play this game to enjoy ourselves.
Making death more punishing isn't really enjoyable when everyone wants to push conflict and 'might makes right' in the server. You just wind up stratifying things to mechanical power- again.

The other extreme would be to just to let everybody start at lvl10, while keeping the level cap at 10 as well. That would eliminate a lot of the mechanical differences - though I do not think it would be fun. Personally, I think I would prefer a sort of normal distribution around lvl 7-8, which I think is defined somewhere as the typical level of this server. It is possible to get to that level range without too much pain from dying, I think.

I brought the suggestion up over something that happened on a DM spiced quest a few days back.
some people died and my PC offered to raise them for the diamond bought and praise to my clerics god, However one of them asked OOC to be taken to an NPC and ressurected since they had plenty of gold and they'd lose less XP.
Maybe the price on ressurection can be raised a fair bit or something, so its not just the outright better choice
