"Walk" Exploit

This originally was brought up in the Ask a DM forum years ago here.
I am frankly amazed at the number of players who think it is completely legitimate to "walk" backwards 30 or 40 in-game feet with a monster unable to attack them. This is abusing a mechanical exploit and is enough to get your character DM killed or deleted entirely. It needs to stop.
Yesterday while running events, I saw no less than three characters use this exploit to try to avoid a death. Each one was DM killed and warned not to continue this kind of cheating.

Again, I'm DM killing people who seem surprised that this is an exploit. Its well-enough known by now there shouldn't be attempts to say you didn't know.

Seriously.
This is a bannable offense, walking back 30 feet to avoid attacks is a BLATANT exploit.
Expect serious consequences if caught doing this again.

The DM team has had it up to here with people doing this. I can't believe players honestly don't think we won't notice this. Walking backwards in circles or 10 feet behind is quite conspicuous. I've seen this six times in one day, and not from new players even.
Let me reiterate; Walk backwards when you are FLANKING a monster, and it's attention is not focused on you. You RUN away DO NOT walk backwards.
If you WALK backwards while something's ATTACKING you, we will DM kill you on the spot. No questions asked, no apologies or entreaties or whining will be entertained. Do this a second time, and you can find a new server to play on.
This has really been explained too many times to plead ignorance now.
