Make brew potion and craft wand learnable In Game

So the same as ours, more or less?
Whatever can kickstart the economy again, I am all for it. -

Don't know if it's possible (or game breaking for that matter) but; Is it possible to group scribe scroll/ brew potion/ craft wand into one custom feat to reduce the number people need to take?
If so, since Wizards already get scribe, it could maybe reduce the XP cost of their scroll scribing ( but keeping the gold coat for that GP sink).
There are already some items in game that give feats. Clothing/ cloaks that grant awareness, belt for cleave and a prestige item that gives spell penetration spring to mind.
One thing we must NOT make cheaper and easier, is wizards scribing scrolls. Trust me >.>

@CitizenBane so EFU use the CNR crafting system? You can gather resources and brew potions from them?

No, i meant that they use a system where you can brew potions by using the feat.
-
You can gather resources and through a unique algorithm each character has their own recipe to create consumables, some of which may indeed be potions.
None of their crafting systems create 'equipment' unless it's late game stage stuff.
-
@SpiffyMeister sounds like a totally different system then.
-
What EFU does is allow player casters to purchase the knowledge and be taught by an NPC on how to brew potion- for if a player can learn blacksmithing in game, why can't they learn to brew potions?
Sure, for reasons of OOC balance, you might gate such things, but from a role play perspective, if I can learn to create blades with +1 dmg in acid/fire/cold/electric, why can't someone learn to brew potions?
-
@SpiffyMeister they can.
By studying magic, having innate magical powers, and taking a feat.
-
Then we should, by this logic, require everyone to take a feat to learn blacksmithing and alchemy?
-
@SpiffyMeister alchemy maybe, though it could be argued to be mundane to an extent.
Potions and wands are magical creations made by students of the arcane, those with powers drawn from the gods or thier mysterious innate abilities.
-
I highly encourage that this actually gets implemented, it would jumpstart the player economy once people don't need to take one of the THREE OR FOUR feats that a sorcerer gets to brew potions, or one of SIX a wizard gets, over the entire span of their characters life.
-
Spiffy
You can put skill points in craft armor and craft weapon to get a bonus to blacksmithing.
You can put CoAss points in alchemy for a bonus for that. And there's nothing magical about alchemy. It's like cooking - just throw stuff in a beaker and bam! potion. -
Is there a big player economy problem then?
-
We are not looking at making this change as it does not align with the overall goals of the server. Lower consumable and overall lower power levels. This was discussed previously and rejected by the team. If you wish to have the ease and benefits of brew potion and craft wand then select the feat(s). The CNR system is open to all for no feat investment.
