Looking for Ideas

People should suggest/test these areas and let DMs know if they're not worth it. No one wants to put a lot of work into something no one is going to enjoy!

The 'Exploration is nothing but a resource drain' conversation is one that has been done to death since I've started playing here. It'll apparently never end with both parties happy, so I think its best to start looking at a different kind of risk and a different kind of reward when it comes to these things.

both areas are good, awesome rewards in the pyramid if you dare to risk the spawns there.
huge xp in the banda tomb for equal risk. didnt get to see any loot there though, maybe past that door….
and they both have a tale to tell too. motivation to go to both places for a lot of characters.

The Pyramid is not bad. The Tomb is horribly unbalanced with vampire warriors right as you walk inside (at least it was in my one and only trip there)
Shame the area isn't nice and leveled like the Haunted Halls. That place is popular because it scales nicely and nothing terribly deadly inside.

The stuff in the tomb is, quite simply put, expensive to fight :/
I like dangerous stuff, but there has to be some bait at the end. My opinion only.

I havn't explored it much yet, but Clar Banda's Tomb should be a terrifying place to enter. I wouldn't lighten up the spawn at all. There should be awesome rewards there- but also epic challenges.

"Some interesting puzzles, lore, new minor plot hooks, npcs, shops, that kind of thing. Make the areas safeish to be in, and the rewards less physical in nature." This x1000
All these skill-points and abilities and races and feats, it'd be nice if area exploration and secret spots used less uber deadly spawns and more "only a guy with this and this can gain access to here" Also, more merchants in dangerous places that offer cheap and powerful items would make the resource drain and danger worth it. That said, my exploration of these places is limited, so I am not 100% sure what lies out there already :)

Personally I be inclined to make a single weapon fighter kit all about ab, to make it tactically different from other styles. Also make it work with exotic one handers, there some of the most underused weapons on the server as it is.
Also samurai are cool!

Samurai's Katanas are supposed to be two-handed… Stupid NWN >_>

There is a three headed hydra model in a hak I luckily managed to download before the vault went down Moloch, it's almost a kraken?. it also has a lot of other really cool monsters in it.
Hopefully I didn't delete it thinking I could just get it another day…

Yet in real life there are styles of katana sword play that focus solely on the one handed draw strike. Hell, there have even been accounts of people dual wielding Katanas so "supposed to be" means jack diddly. Stupid reality >_>
And on the OP, More varied creatures would always be welcome as the creation of such could lead to updated dungeons or even new threats to the city!

Iaido is a Japanese art that centers on the drawing of the sword with a single hand. This art focuses on drawing, cutting your opponent, cleaning the blade of your opponents blood, and returning the blade to the scabbard in a single uninterrupted movement. Against many opponents, or a single skilled opponent, the practitioner would still be expected to transition to a two handed grip. That being said, Iaido is more of a form of spiritual practice or meditation than it is a combative form today.
Kendo, Kenjutsu/Two handed sword fighting uses a two handed grip with the Katana and is infinitely more practical and effective than trying to wield the weapon with a single hand. These are not chopping weapons, even if it may look that way to the untrained eye. Each movement, even the arc designed in the blade is meant to facilitate a drawing cut through the opponent. I could tap away on my ipad for hours explaining the subtleties of these arts, but all of that is relatively unimportant to you guys. Let is suffice for me to say that the Katana is a two handed weapon by design, and that I die a little inside every time I see a movie or video game where someone is using this magnificent weapon one handed or even worse, dual wielding it like a lettuce chopper.
And… Because there is an exception to everything - there was once an exceptional fellow named
Miyamoto Musashi that legends say developed two handed sword techniques designed around the katana back when it was accepted practice that you just don't do that. This fellow was rumored to have beat trained swordsman to death with nothing more than a boat oar so... Anything is possible. When you can beat the worlds best train swordsman with an oar from a row boat, then, and only then will I not laugh at your duel katana wielding behind!SenseiitsnotjustaclevernameTravis
