@Lord_Acererak i like the idea of being able to leave when you run out of time, as the missing pilgrims quest in the moountians used to be where there were various possible endings ... the lycan, the orcs , the bandit.. or if you continued you found the cyricists.
another alternative would be similar to the note book quest where you needed an item to access the thing. so complete one quest find the access item to the next which ought to be harder etc. similar the the ashby trilogy.
if the item was pesistent then you could progress to the next tier when you next logged in (obviously make it weigh significantly so they werent just accumulated, and set them to decay if put in storage or magic bags)

this caravan thing could actually be expanded into a quest - traverse a single map (rather than 2 large ones) after speaking to the npc (just outside tilverton or at the strrt of the moonsea ride where the last npcs are) so that you still have to walk some of the distance but it is a level appropriate encounter - but a guaranteed one.
this ought to help lowbies to move, but would probably be detrimental to higher levels as a level appropriate encounter is worse than the normal spawns on the road (or could be deliberately made that way anyway!)

the fighters have an ab of approx +15 and 3 attacks a round with double bladed sword.
the mages are quite decent with a range of offensive spells.
the rangers have approx +14 ab and use poison arrows, or dual wield scimis.
the group of these is the thing i worry about meeting in hullack most, bullettes proabbly the second cos of earth sense but earthdrakes, orc, giants, ettins, bugbears and goblins are far more manageable as either impotent or appear as single mobs..
imw wand is single use rather than charge per use

the inflict moderate wounds wand available in the store has 20 charges but is actually a single use item, needs changing to 1 charge per use.

rather than only being able to buy onyx in single items it would be good to have a stack of 10 option for quality of life.
"Well dressed man" only place i know that sells these atm too, could be that there are others yet to be found but if not there should be!
RE: movement around eveningstar
there is a dawnsquire at the transition to the west which essentially stops access north to south as well as to the west.
also militia in the farms and a farmer (who is also a blue npc, though less liekly to want to attack an adventurer)

with the haunted halls being opened it would be good if there was a way to allow travel for exiles without having to go all the way around and through immersea to get there (which probably shouldnt be allowed either!).
maybe move the eveningstar guard post to within the forest ring so that people can move down from the tunnel system to the north to pass west?
or alternatively create a new exit form tunnel system on the map to the west of eveningstar?
