What are my positive ideas for improving stuff?

Amen to what Nikko said, let the summer's focus be on roleplaying interesting characters and forget about what war is going on or who's gonna blow up the city next just relax and enjoy Rping with one another. Didn't mean to side track the topic was just responding to Moloch's comment and yeah BG you got what I meant.
Sit around holding hands and RPing about what the weather is like?
I play games like CoA for conflict and exploding cities, what you're suggesting sounds 100% carebear and 100% boring.
CoA is fine, if you don't like it play somewhere else or get IG and start working towards the things that you feel could make a difference.

My name is Tango and I am a CoA v4oholic.
I have not been playing for 5 min and I feel terrible.
I love v4 and the intense DMing. The other day a DM just sent a tell "if you want to explore, shoot me a tell and I will DM for you". How is that for great support?
What can improve is stop nagging on the forums about a server that is wicked good. Frankly, too many posts lately reminds me of rude guests at a party complaining about the horrible food they get for free.

I LIKE the much greater openness to applications. I would IMPROVE on it by recruiting scripters for those apps that need it to slow down waiting periods. I'd LOVE to see a reduction a bit in the the odd subraces and more of a focus on the unique story/background variations though.
I LIKE the introduction of new faction. I'd IMPROVE upon them by enlisting PCs (either in app form or hiring them a la the first Phoenix Legion set) to gauge an initial interest and provide a more comprehensive introduction period. (Then have the NPC mobilize in from wherever if the faction seems to be of interest). I'd LOVE to see them break away a bit from the semi-military models many have had.
I LIKE the degree of shakeup away from the LG omni-power. I'd IMPROVE upon it by trying to "Grey" out a few areas that seem to have slipped a bit too far into the other bias. I'd LOVE to see the city get a bit more ordered though, in order to improve plot flow, prominently, as it becomes too difficult to get any significant number of players involved without banging into factional walls.
I LIKE the degree of exploration outside. I'd IMPROVE upon it by taking a serious overview of monster spawns and particularly those that're very powerful and don't serve a storyline purpose by their presence, seeming mostly to arbitrarily thwart player explorations. I'd LOVE to see more of the classical D&D forests/dungeons/ruined forts/etc over the Underdarkish explorational focus.

I've gotten to the post where i' scared to even roll a character or don't wanna join a faction bescause i'm scared who i piss off for just existing.
I do miss the times when there is a PC player that everyone loves to hate out in force, such as the Thayans in v3 and The Legion in v4. Problem is there is no presence that their used to be, and that's not the players fault it's the game growing older things we could do 4-6-10 years ago are impossible now due to the game age and interest.
I also miss the old merchant on the street just to see his peddle wares (sure it Carebear) but it at least some more interaction vs reading a forum post.
Pushing plots is great, it is but sometimes i just wanna do a ton of quests because I'm having a bad day or sit back and enjoy the ale then be part of the Sheriff are corrupt their sponsored by the Adkul Penny wallet to make your day worse.
I would love to see an "Evil" PC with some presence one i see in game acting evil, doing things for the hell of it, 95% of the stuff that happens in game these days seem to be private or one shot events written in forum posts. Unless i see it first hand with one of my characters. It doesn't affect me as deeply i'm sure other feel that way to.

Being one of the comers and goers, I return to CoA for I LIKE the way you can easily become a part of almost any plot and faction. It makes me feel welcome to join the community even if I been away for a while, while I am utterly scared of speaking to DMs most of the time, I feel there is always a DM who remembers me and is happy to answer my questions and give me directions for fun roleplay/adventure. For I LOVE the fact that in almost every corner, every item or quest, there is the chance of finding a plot/story which you can follow. It is very easy to find something that suits your character and that can involve so many more, as long as you keep an open mind and does not stop yourself from having fun cause you are not willing to make some changes in your focus. Certainly at times I feel it could be IMPROVED on the DMs side, for at times it feels a bit hard just to catch someone to ask a question or get someone interest in a plot, however this is the part where it may simply be impatience or shyness.
After all, as a DM you log in to have fun as well and work on a story, there are a lot more players than DMs so instead of giving up when you get no DM to catch your attention. The player-base could also IMPROVE by focusing more on involving other players, for if you get many involved some may drop out or go but there will always be some that stay which you can work with, let them have fun during exploring/plotting/roleplay and then the DMs will probably be more willing to help. Those who simply limit themselves by saying "Oh but I only want to have X involved, but they are gone or rarely around" and then say "I'm bored" probably need to step back and think of other ways to involve others if their first idea did not work. Cause what I LOVE is the players who get others involved, are happy to help new players/characters and this happens a lot which makes CoA brilliant. I don't only want to focus on my own plots/goals, I also want to help others in their plots/goals cause just doing the same thing, the same goal will get you bored and probably irritated, start whining or something.
I LIKE posetive thinking, people not dragging their heels and doing other things than doing quests all day, however I LOVE exploring, plotting and talking with people. Which there is plenty of in CoA, I think people just need to cheer up a little and try to think of ways to not limit their fun. What mostly makes me take a break from CoA, is players who are nothing but negative and who will only drag others down into their misrable world as well. However I always come back, there's lots of fun to be had here and a great bunch of DMs/Players who always make it interesting to be around. No matter what plot/character or day it is, even evil characters can involve people and I often find them to be hilarious/more interesting to be around while the good ones just complain a lot. :P Even if I cannot/am rather bad at playing evil characters myself. Love you all and I hope things get better! <3

Anyway, reading all this. Keep them coming! Helpful stuff here.

Isn't complaining about the complaining pretty much the same thing? It's like anywhere in RL, some people are gonna suck and they aren't really gonna change (Typically). This is one of those things that can't be changed, so you may as well find some serenity. The server is what you make of it. With all it's faults, one thing I see remains. A well knitted community. Sure, not perfect, but isn't that what makes people drop in and say "Hi"? I like the amount of script stuff there is to do. It's a bit too difficult for me to keep up with plots due to my busy life, so what I would like to see is perhaps weekly event's/groups that are run consistently. And what's funny is this can be done without a DM, but that doesn't mean one makes it 10x better. What I truely love is getting into character and creating the story of that character's life/adventures. I can still do this, so I am good.

LIKE: I can always find a group to follow and perhaps join, if everyone happens to have left to different areas before I was able to log in, I like that I can find something to keep myself occupied till they have finished what they are doing, or more people have come in, the big thing with this server that has keep me coming back is that regardless of plots or quests that take people out of the city, there are only a couple of centralized areas where you can meet other people. If you wait long enough you will eventually meet someone. The server has always been built around that, and that is why it is doing well, keep doing that and the server will continue on, I LIKE the plots and stuff I have noticed have always been adaptable, in that the DM's seem to be able to adjust them to suit the current climate of the server and players as a whole

I Love player driven plots and in terms of the Loyal player base of CoA, I'd say I'm pretty new having only been playing for shy of two years, but I've learned a great deal in a short amount of time. I retired my first character because I was "Stuck" constantly waiting for an NPC post on the forum or interaction from an NPC IG to proceed with my plots and then I realized that if it's a "Player-driven" server then PC's push the plots, not NPC's. This game and the DM team is awesome and it seems to me like the more I learn to take things into my own hands and focus on the story and interactions of my character, the more DM attention and reward I get. Best examples I can give: "PC vs PC plot where a child murderer is executed leads to a PC and PC RP interaction where said criminal is to be resurrected in a ritual as an undead to serve the legion as a punishment for his crimes. PC's lay out a ritual IC and summon generic undead spell with the intention of interacting with each other, not even realizing a DM is watching. DM thinks "how cool, they are RPing at story out just for the sake of the interaction and the story I'm going to spice this up" turns generic undead into something a bit more interesting and takes control of it for increased interaction." I can name no less than three interactions I've had in the last week where I sent a tell to an online DM saying something along the lines of "I know you are busy right now but I just wanted to let you know I'm doing with <insert plot="" important="" pc's="">tonight just for the sake of keeping the story alive and having some fun RP with those involved. The DM either does not reply or explains why he is busy and can't get to me tonight and I thank him for his efforts and go about my DM-less adventure. You know what is funny? All three of those times where I did not expect or need a DM to push my plots or have fun with others got DM spice latter on after the DM freed up. I can't claim to know what the DM's think and want but my understanding so far is if you are creative enough to create a fun story that involves others under the assumption that you will not be getting DM attention, then the DM's magically appear to make it better. I love CoA, I love the people I get to interact with IC and OOC, and I love the DM team. Yes, it has its flaws, but the very fact that a newer player like me can create such rich stories as some of my characters have had and have even the tiniest impact on the server setting is absolutely AMAZING. Thank you DM's and thank you to all the Players who care more about their characters feelings/emotions/stories/Interests than about their OOC goals. My newest character, Lucien, and all his interactions even before any DM involvement with friends and enemies has made this some of the best couple months of RP gaming I've ever had. I just wanted to share my renewed excitement in lieu of the negativity.

ok vincent, I read this and right now I'm thinking of what the hell I can write to make clear I agree with while same time tying to think of something usefull to say.
new here, month playing there's me, let's take excample of PC feud I had with the first character I played with the most bad ass elf ever to take shape, Amilia had this feud with Hound from the day she explained everything to a someone she trusted (no DM)
then suddenly get ambushed lout of no were getting confronted with the facts (no DM)
and beeing nervous getting killed the puny lvl 4 I was… (no DM)this concludes me to agree with above and to say DM's are to increase- not to create- fun, the PC's create fun, DM's further it, we all have a jolly good time and still people complian... WHAT THE ***? I see no reason to complain other then the heal kit's that sometime don't work which is a minor thing that is not in this topic.

My ideas on improving stuff - Log in and play the game.

New places to explore. I find - and especially if you play a druid or outcast/criminal that places get old to explore/go to, but you have often no where else to go. Even if its new places added in every now and then, or a rotation of different maps would be nice. With potential loot/monsters of course.
Also, if your "gathering" things for a quest, maybe more a variety of places to go rather than it being limited to certain spots. This is specifically with hedge magic items - which Im starting to think was a really really bad idea - why? While the concept of going out to explore is nice, how many players here can tell us how many times they went to the same place over and over and over and over to find what they needed? Can't tell you how many time's I've been to the Underdark fire place. Lost count ages ago. Same goes for the other places. I then stopped looking to find hedge magic items and rather made up my own things to go find in different places, which I found work much better. Like gather essence from Stormholms, underdark, Immersea ect.

I Find myself Reurning to this Topic because I feel somehow The server losr some of it's Flavour.
Is it possible1. you just can't get a concept to be fun for your and this is what drags you down? or Is it
2. that the PC's innitative is beeing ignored and the concept dies out due to lack of friends buddies gold influence etc.?
trol
3. your build is just not so good and you should stop…. -
I am a new player, I come from a very Different server, so I am hesitate to post, but there are a few things I do like so far.
I like the possibility of achieving near anything on the server, granted, the higher you aim, the hard it gets, but that is common sense.
I LIKE the factions
I would LOVE to see a bit more bigotry and hypocrisy in the game. Double standards and the like.

Man, all the people from Georgia are cool.

I think sometimes people get too afraid of conflict, agreed.

Afraid of conflict you say?

@AWESOMEMAN:
Afraid of conflict you say?
The way I see it, yeah. Not everyone, of course, but I feel many people are afraid of displeasing a faction, or even some characters. It turns out, imo, conflict makes things interesting and open a lot of RP opportunities, including people gathering to take down a common enemy, a possibility of reconciliation, etc.
In this aspect, Vaszirack is my hero! :) I also played EfU for a time, and there you got conflict from lvl 1 (lvl 2, actualy, since you lvled up as soon as you created a char).
If there were at least one powerful fanactical faction, like an inquisition, or maybe a faction who supported its members through -anything-, even if they were scumbags, it would be nice.
I know Mage's Guild had IG reasons to expel Vas, and I'm not suggesting they shouldn't do it. But think of a powerful faction, such as the Mage's Guild, who would still protect a character like Vas after all he has done, in exchange for his loyalty. Thats just an idea, and I get a feeling V5 will have this kind faction.
But thats all just my opinion, anyway.
