Within Clar Banda’s Tomb
Written by Steward Freya of House Wyvernspur
Summoned by the Retainers of House Marliir, an expedition was arranged by the House to search the East Way Cemetery for clues in regards of unrest dead and their spirits. Always haunted by the walking dead, it was no picnic as we ventured deeper into the graveyard. Slaying everything from vampiric werewolves to a monstrous rotten giant, that dug its way out beneath our very feet. As the dead kept flowing in towards the party, the silver-tongued vampire Eleanor appeared by Clar Banda’s tomb with a smile upon her dead lips. Whispering fiendish lies towards the crowd, a priest of Ilmater Kalen Hael would not stand still as a wicked creature attempted to fill lies into the gathered minds. Charging into the powerful vampire, a mighty battle broke out and swarms of undead burst out of the ground. Unable to resist the might of Ilmater, Eleanor fell to our blades but her body only dissolved into ash before being swept off by the wind. We knew that we would see her once more, for her heart had not been staked.
Pressing on into the very tomb of Clar Banda, there was no surprise as we encountered even more powerful undead in the rusted armours of Purple Dragons and tattered robes of War Wizard’s. As we ventured further into the tomb, more and more of our party fell to the foul hands of undead and traps. However, with the rumours of a powerful undead hiding away inside the crypt with a fragment of Mystra’s bones, the group was determined to press on despite the heavy losses. Tired and worn from many hard battles, we finally reached the final room where two Doom Knight’s stood attention before a Doom Knight Commander, the very Commander bearing the fragment of Mystra. Charging straight into battle, the Doom Knights quickly fell by our blessed blades but the Commander stood untouched.
Chuckling at us, the Commander explained that the fragment of Mystra made him immortal and more powerful than the very lich who created him. With mocking words, the empowered Commander pushed past my companions with ease but I would not let him leave. Facing the dried flesh of the Doom Knight Commander, face to face with all my strength used to stand my grounds, I did not budge. Scowling, I hissed at the Doom Knight Commander as he was stopped in his pass. Angered, the Commander attempted to once more push me aside, but with the blessings of Selune I once more was able to stand my ground and jumped the Commander. Wrestling the undead creature, my companions were able to steal the fragment of Mystra from the Commander as he was occupied with avoiding my claws and fangs. Yet, as the fragment burst into flames after being torn from the Commander, his immortal powers were gone and he was torn into pieces. With a roar, I tore the skull off the Commander and we stood victorious.

Out at Sea with Captain Ruby II
Written by Steward Freya of House Wyvernspur
As my party and I embarked upon our second voyage with Captain Ruby, there were even less of a plan or idea of what laid ahead of us within the depths of Wyvernwater. With only one underwater helmet, and a crew of six, there was no certainty on how we would find and slay the mighty sea beast. With rumours of strange tidal waves erupting unusually out at sea not far from the Island of Death, we found ourselves once more in the rough hands of Captain Ruby. This time Tyche smiled upon us, the journey was only half a day long, yet even more rough and violent than previously. Left upon a small island in the seemingly endless waters of Wyvernwater, we decided to share the underwater helmet while swimming and as such making the need to take breathing breaks much easier.
Descending down into the murky waters of Wyvernwater, frightened fishes fled away towards our direction and this was certainly not a good sign. Before us a slippery and thin pathway laid ahead, formed by decades of waters shaping the underwater rocks and we knew that the source of the tidal waves was in the shame direction. Shocked by traps and vicious leeches once more sucking the blood out of our flesh, the bottom of Wyvernwater felt strangely civilized with strange ruins and oddly formed bridges over sharply falling chasms. Soon closing into the source of the tidal waves and in no doubt the Hydra, we found ourselves welcomed by an angry tribe of lizard folks with monstrous tattoos upon their foreheads. On the very frail bridge above the chasm, we battled the lizard folks with several forced retreats as the helmet sharing proved much more difficult during battle.
In a final struggle, we charged into the shamans of the tribe, spells and swords cut through the murky waters and blood turned it red. With heavy losses we finally stood above the lizard folks in victory, now it became clear to us that they were worshippers of this Sea Hydra. And just as this thought cleared up in our minds, a dark giant approached from the nearby waters. With at least a dozen hissing heads and hideous claws, the Sea Hydra swam towards us in rage as we had slain its worshippers, or in its mind, its feeders. Shocked by the sheer size of the Hydra, our weapons proved useless and nearly all spells helpless as we attempted to slay the beast before we became its next meal but once more the divine were in our favour. As my acidic blade pierced the skin of the Hydra, our mages peppered the beast with acidic spells and a thunder shriek shook the very sand beneath our feet as the dead Hydra plummeted down the edge and into the darkness of the chasm.
Breathless, we swam our way back to the surface. With little proof of our victory, until we discovered a chest kept by the Lizard Folks themselves and it was certainly full of unspeakable treasure and thousand upon thousands of gold and gems. With glee, we ventured back to Arabel with the chest upon Captain Ruby’s ship. Tossed around like balls inside a wizard’s trinket, we once more crashed upon the shore. Saying our final farewells to Captain Ruby before she set sails once more, heading off to unspeakable adventures on Wyvernwater’s waves. In Arabel, the loot and gold was split across the party and everyone was pleased with the profitable outcome. Still, what was even more pleasing was the discovery of a blood of Sea Hydra blood deeply hidden within the treasure chest. A powerful magical item, still containing the Hydra’s tidal powers as it pulsed inside the vial. With certainty, we thought this would aid us to finally reclaim Immersea from those lawless and murdering pirates. Handing it back to the rightful hands of House Wyvernspur, whom by law own the land and by that, returning peace and order to the village.

Out at Sea with Captain Ruby

Another man was tossed off the ship as the mad cackling Captain Ruby sailed her ship towards a deserted island in the midst of Lake Wyvernwater. Her crew worked tirelessly with little if no complaint, as they were tosses from one side of the deck to another. Unlike these hardy sailors, myself and my party were not finding this rocky ride as easy. Our scout had her head hanging over the rail while the rest of us had tied ourselves to the mast of the ship, to avoid being flung off by yet another giant wave crashing down upon us. Five days and nights the wild voyage lasted, yet upon the deck it felt like months of endless misery. With the uncertainly hovering over us if it had been a wise choice to pay Captain Ruby to sail us to the island, where it had been rumoured to be buried treasure and an artefact that had lead us to begin this voyage in the first place.
Upon land, our luck did not turn and we came to face the fact why this island had been abounded long ago. Overwhelmed by leeches, undead corpses and animals, it was a battle of survival as we searched the island for the giant tree where the treasure was supposed to be buried. Yet, when ever we neared the water of the island, swarms of hungry leeches sucked out the blood from our very marrows! Fleeing the swarm, it was by chance that we came across a sharp hill with a tall tree standing at its peak. Climbing up the steep sides of the hill, our party priestess just managed to crawl her way up to the tree. There, with the help of a Silver Bannerman they dug several holes around the tree before hitting the jackpot. A massive old pirate chest, filled with gold, potions and various enchanted items of unspeakable value.
However, it was the artefact that filled our heart with joyous glee the most. It was a delicate and beautiful helmet, given such powerful enchantments that it allowed the wearer to breath under water and this was the perfect tool for our hunt. The hunt after the legendary Sea Hydra, standing thirty feet in height and so powerful its very presence causes tidal waves. Not long before our voyage, it had nearly laid waste to Immersea and consumed anyone crossing its path. With the helmet, we would be able to directly go after the beast and meet it face to face. Our thoughts and cheers were cut short as more leeches begun to crawl out of the water, in a desperate rush we grabbed the treasure chest and rushed towards Captain Ruby’s ship. Soon the swarm was at our heels, two of our companions were already down before the first had been able to set foot on the ship. Fighting to drag the bleeding corpses of our companions onto the ship, thunder echoed in the dark cloud above us as the leeches begun to attack the fleeing ship.
With a hasty donation to the Bitch Queen to spare us from the storm as we set sail towards Immersea, once the last of the leeches had been slain. Captain Ruby laughed madly as she once more set sail towards Immersea, five more days and nights of misery and wetness yet we were glad to arrive to Immersea in one piece. As we docked, the whole party flew off the ship and slammed down onto the docks with loot and all. Captain Ruby roared in laughter, despite having lost another two men due to her wild voyage but it did not seem to bother her in the least. After thanking her and gathering ourselves for the journey back to Arabel, the party patted one another on the shoulder. Little did we know, that the worst of this adventure was yet to come as we ventures out once more to the sea in search of the legendary Sea Hydra.
