Two questions, answer whichever you prefer (read: both, please).
- When will v5 kick off? Ballpark it – weeks, months, years?
- What sort of factions, if any, will exist? Will any current ones carry over? Anyone old favorites resurrected?

Both really, and then I'll take the questions that I can answer right now and do a real write up response in the spoiler announcements. Then you guys are free to talk here about spoilers, and ideas, just a place to vent what I hope will be all the excitement about the upcoming project.
I can also clarify what I meant when I post spoilers. Its just one more way for me to try to keep channels of communication open with the player base about what is going on and free up the DMs to actually do the work of building v5–which started yesterday officially.

The goal is to strive for factions that are open to many different concepts, while still having unique flavors and separate goals. Additionally, while all our factions have disagreements and rivalries, they are all firmly committed to keeping Arabel safe. Maybe they just disagree on how that should be done. I think people will be pleased to see that some of these factions have a few familiar family names in them. I see Abbot eyeing me with the bamboo shoots again, so I'm not going to reveal much more than that just yet.

Can you give any idea of the year that we start v5 in?
From the picture, there must be at least a twenty year jump from the current date (1381 DR).
Any sort of definitive year that it'll be that you can reveal to us?

I could give you an idea of the year that we start in, but you do know, but the character in the image on week 2's spoiler already has hair that is silver, she's ahalf-silver dragon after all.
I can definitely confirm though, we will have a bit of a jump into the future which will help to make the wipe feel more seamless. All of Arabel's heroes and villains disappearing one day would be odd, so to maintain continuity, we'll move into the future. New heroes and villains (as NPCs) will have risen and fallen in the interim, so our new champions can come take their places. However, you will still see a bunch of familiar NPCs around in Arabel.
I'll make you a deal, I'll answer all of this more completely though with our next spoiler!

Her uniform rather looks DeSchurran. ;) Not to mention.. double axe.. which is.. DeSchurr's thing.

From what I can see, it -is- Deschurrs Axe. Secondly, if I was to guess, its Anya Deschurr. If memory serves she was suppose to be a half dragon.
Otherwise, the only vague rumor of silver dragons in the CoA setting, would be the one Maureen worshipped when she played her RDD bard, or "Lhals" bodyguard elf, who was supposedly a Silver Dragon Masked as an elven weaponmaster of the Longsword.
The last part I am rather certain was forgotten and thereby written out of the setting.

I've heard good things from veteran players about the Houses…maybe it'll be cool if they are important again!

i am too young to CoA to really know anything about the houses, i remember Caleb Beaumont though and the fact that he was approachable.
Thonds golden lions were a group that was atatched to the houses but not of them, and i knew a few of them in passing.

Will there be any changes on what role quests play in the world and how they work or will it still be pretty much the same.
