    • RE: Alts and Brewing: The Economy, Metagaming, and You

      @Zool:

However, I personally hate any form of limiting people to playing what they want to play, when they want to play it.

Creating a direct rule limiting play styles, or implementing some kind of "mechanical fix" for this seems counter productive to the actual issue at hand, which is people making sure to keep the rules, and fairness of the server in mind.

I strongly agree with this sentiment.

Selling potions to allies of your main character for the purpose of helping your faction - that's just cheating. It's like making a rogue alt to spy on your main's enemies. Mechanically possible but cheating. DMs should simply mete out punishment.

      Sidenote:

Please do not increase weight of potions - Encumbrance is quite literally the WORST thing about NWN. There are a number of times when I've gotten so frustrated with encumbered characters that I have trouble enjoying them. I understand that it's immersion breaking to have characters running around with 20 sets of fullplate and 72 greatswords - But encumbrance is bad enough as is.

    • RE: Star Pacts and forbidden lore:

      @Fearmoho12:

Yeah, apparently it contains a part claiming Ibrandul was killed by Shar and replaced, despite no one (not even the other gods) knowing that.
I'd suggest removing that book or editing it.

Yeah that could be bad if any of us ever want to do crazy Ibrandul cultists…Ahem.

    • RE: How much would you pay per item for storage?

A lot. Getting annoyed by encumbrance is the #1 reason I log off these days, other than RL obligations obviously.

    • RE: Craziest Character Build

I remember a lot of these old crazy builds. The Multitude was awesome. My PnP players have run into so many hivemind druids because of that concept. Pure win.

I also remember games' Samantha Watkins. The two of us used to pretend to tank together a lot. We were bad at it.

You should also throw your other crazy build into the mix, games. What was it like fighter/bard/wizard with star pact?

    • RE: Craziest Character Build

This is like…the thread that describes how I play NWN. Where do I even begin?

Ranger?/Rogue?/Barbarian? - Elf who liked to bash stuff - I was a young and had no idea how to play, once tried bashing a goblin with a shield wand

Wizard9/Ftr2 - Spellsword who swore she could frontline and scout...actually just sucked at mostly everything. Once rolled opposed strength to stop a raging barbarian instead of using the Stilled Hold Person she had prepared for just such an occasion. Fail.
(Note - the fighter levels were NOT part of the build plan...they just sort of happened. I cared less about mechanics then. The good old days.)

Rogue3/Wiz5 - Chaotic Good Maskarran street urchin turned rich honest businesswoman, had a Cyricist mentor who taught her to poison -everything-

Cleric4/Bard4 - "Secret" Agent singer/priestess of the Song god, didn't really keep her secret at all, also was like a 50 hp tank against the Shadovar army

Ranger6/Wiz3 - This concept was born out of "Hmm, this apple I'm eating is really good. Let's make a CoA character", so much survivability it's ridiculous

    • RE: Looking for V3-V4 church of mask group

Soothsayer Aessa was awesome. He mentored my Mask-follower, though she was too late for this particular group, and I only found out OOCly he was a Cyricist when he sent me on too many wild goose chases.

There are still things about the server that Aessa taught me that very few people know.

    • RE: Quest Loot Suggestions

Also placed in the suggestions thread.

To combat the fact that the spell alterations are not used (from what I've heard) as often as they could be and allow players to take advantage of this really cool system, some hints and tips could be placed in notes in the loot tables. Example:

Name: Mystery X's Mysterious Research Note # 7
Description: These damn guards have been hounding me every time I try to buy a simple paladin heart for my research. They don't understand my genius and the importance of my work. I really need to find a spell to protect me from these stuck up law enforcers and stupid self-righteous "guards" … Day 6 - It appears that the protection from alignments spell can be altered using some reagent to protect against stick-up-the-butt law enforcers. Maybe some gem might be useful?...Day 9 - Not a gem. Might need to try [insert a hint here]. (The rest of the note is illegibly burnt or torn)

You could even place the hints thematically in quests that follow the same theme as the spells. Like fire-based alterations in Aseph's quest, fey-based alterations in fey quest, etc…

      Making Friends with Fey
      Garden Cleaning Quest
This hide-bound tome appears to detail the methods by which one might befriend the creatures of the feywild. You think that, if you could get past the poor grammar and spelling, you might be able to learn a secret or two from the contents. It contains a number of references to a famed fey by the name of Coltsfoot. The cover page is simply signed "H. F.".

    • RE: My favorite playstyle.

My favorite playstyle is versatility and supports. I love to play characters that don't pigeonhole themselves into any particular role but instead attempt to carry out a variety of missions. Characters that blend versatility with non-combat utility skills such that they're always contributing, even if they're not doing as much as the main fighter.

I've only played one character without magic so far in years and years on Arabel. I like to cast spells I guess.
