Stoneskin Potions
-
I suggest adding stoneskin potions back to potion merchants. This change really hurts the parity of the server and further tips the scales in favour of caster classes who still have full access to stoneskin via wands. Spellcasters are already generally stronger classes and this separates the gap on parity, especially for those not able to do the 7-10 quests regularly that these potions still drop from.

I somewhat agree with this. I think it WAS too readily available to everyone at the time.
I'd say either slap it back in with a much higher cost, or give pure class martial access to it through their stores. -
If it is added back to martial stores only as long as each martial pure class gets access it's a good compromise/solution. Could make it even more balanced to be an item use so it is a full round for any class to use stoneskin unless cast with haste, vs. the half round with a potion.
-
I'd just add it back in at the cost it used to be.
Never been a problem until now and making stuff harder for everyone just because there's mechanically savvy people questing efficiently or having little trouble on events just drives people away.

Exactly my thoughts...
We seem to be on another nerf train that's going to disproportionately effect those least mechanically capable, or least able to stockpile gold.
It's a never ending treadmill we seem to walk on.

I think they were supposed to be moved to prestige shops. Have you checked there already?
-
Prestige stores and a rare drop in treasure map spawns isnt a bad idea
-
Work 9in progress, they arent removed completely, just not as easily accessibloe
-
@bowser adding to pure class stores is a horrible solution because then multiclasses suck balls.

This. These high end/rarer potions aren’t meant to be an exclusive thing. Single class stores were implemented to make not multi class be viable not to punish multi class.
-
@zool multiclasses are typically already way better and have access to stoneskin. Even with the pure kit stores a fighter/rogue or fighter/bard can still outperform them. Ultimately though I always thought the idea was to have them easily accessible to anyone so that it’s not only those doing the high level quests that drop them who are able to stockpile them.
This nerf doesn’t really hurt players that have tons of stoneskin potions, it hurts the players that struggle to get one or two. And not having them available to certain players will further tip the scales in any PvP interactions.
-
I'm going to get and sort something out tonight, but the idea is, you should really have one or two of these, Not stacks, or bags of stacks.
-
@zool this is a playtime issue and is almost impossible to prevent. You can either have it so everyone will have access to them and be able to have some or many - Or you can have them difficult to access and those that would have many will still get a few while those who might get a few will have none.
Some people play more than others and of those people who do some are able to do more challenging quests, etc.
I can’t think of a way to offset this, otherwise I’d suggest it!

I think it's fine for stoneskin to be rare, we've seen what happens to pvp when it isn't (it never ends.)
Though I don't think you'd need stoneskin that much if our overal HP wasn't so low.
-
@voss_
Agreed with a level cap of 10, and the lower HP I've been one-shotted by a single failed save or crit. -
@voss_ Well never ending pvp is also a symptom of the matchup. Two high AC low AB characters with high saves to stop anything is usually gonna be a pretty uneventful fight. But if it's not stoneskin I guess they'd have to drink a few healing potions here and there instead.
In my eyes, this change hurts most Pure fighter, pure barb, and pure monk. I thought the focus was on making these pure classes more viable, but this seems like a detractor to me.
My main reason for the post and main concern was that caster classes are generally that much stronger already. It seems like widening the gap to me but if others don't think so that's fine too.
-
@bowser Yes, this is true.
But so what?
Doesn't mean we should just have everything be abundant. There is ,as you say, no way around people having more time to play a game than others.
-
@zool well my "so what" or reason for making the post was because of what I said- that it hurts pure fighters, barbs, and monks. Seems with the pure kit shops the focus has been the opposite of this. That's why I made the suggestion.
-
@bowser Oh ok, different issue to people being better at the game than others.
I agree with that one - but yeah, it's trying to get it right. I also dont have time to put the change in tonight now... hopefully another DM will get it sorted.
