Bring back Kenku as a playable race
-
Title says it all really, the consortium area is still IG, We can just mock PC's who don't treat Kenku PCs as tolerable at best
-
As I recall the problem with the Kenku towards the end was more the model swap than anything else. If that can be fixed, I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed. They're an interesting and theoretically integral part of the setting that seems to have been totally discarded in favor of... Being the guys who make sendings? Seeing them re-emerge via PCs could be interesting, and I'm all for it even with their nonexistent presence otherwise.

DO YOU HEAR THE KENKU SQUAWK
THE CAW OF ANGRY VOICES! -
Very unlikely to happen. They were removed cause no one liked playing one. [Shrug]

I'd say there are other subraces that get played as much that people can app lite for.
It doesn't hurt to give people more options and there seems to be player support
-
TL:DR if DMs ever see opportunity for a DM-supported faction that would allow kenku players to join, it could be fun. I'd probably go one. Maybe a rabble rouser type group, something that includes non-kenku players.
I played a kenku with one other person. We had a really good storyteller at the time (who was on a slightly different TZ from us). We did do a lot of stuff, and it was probably the coolest/weirdest plot I have been involved in. You are a stinking shitbird from a massive dovecot of shitbirds.
Consortium was a double-edged sword. You were part of an important faction (not DM supported), but at the same time it requires DM assistance to properly spy and running from players that want to kill you.
Most intrigue were with people who either wanted to kill every kenku or people that wanted a pet kenku. My kenku was attacked several times for asking for payment in stories. It's fine, but there's only so much scope to do anything with that if you don't get some leverage from DM events (eg, sneaking into faction HQ to spy). Tower were only group that would approach us and work with us.
Monster races can work, if they have a route into the DM-less intrigue or a DM faction with a clear role, resulting in faction war if players go full-on racist to justify executing lowbie kenku. otherwise, you'll likely just face PVP and execution before you hit level five if you don't go a Kenku Paladin.

Kenkus are actually a protected race, so they arent KOS, Just distrusted

@v-rage If you are a stinking shitbird from a massive dovecot of shitbirds, it's not like you are going to get funeral when you are killed.

Keeps notes on all the yes votes in his "little black troll book"

I argue that they weren't played because no one was playing for a long time, with the resurgent numbers, I don't see it hurting anything to let them be open again.

If someone has a good app for one, I'd consider it.
So the 23 who said yes, start writing apps :) -
