Scarlet Syndicate and False Titles

Immediate fine of 15,000 coins or face exile. My patience wears thin regarding the Scarlet Syndicate.

Let us remain calm brother and seek the wisdom Lathander provides us. Let us make it a city wide public warning and let there be no room for error. Let them no the titles will not stand even in the shadows. Then if they misstep again you will have your opportunity to see them fined and exiled...

Unless and until any of you present evidence that Jack has committed any capital offense then you need to stop letting your emotions get the better of you. Exile isn't called for under the law we cite. If Jack fails to present the fine, then it would fall to a tenday of service.
As we are charging an individual of a crime rather than the whole group, yes? The individual responsible for giving himself a title?
-Councillor Grurec, Son of Torunden

I will be siding with Councilor Grurec on this. Seeing as Jack was previously warned of the Title use I must vote he pay a fine, but only Jack, the Offender. Exile is currently uncalled for unless he fails to pay the fine.

The way I am seeing this vote result, we should post the following near the public law declarations:
*Let it be recognized that the mercenary group calling itself the Scarlet Syndicate, in accordance with the laws of Arabel, is hereby notified that they are to cease and desist using unmerited titles for their members, including but not limited to Viceroy and Archmage. Furthermore, if any in the group is established to be in violation of this warning, a fine of no less than 15,000 coins will be levied against the group’s leader, Jack Wild, and the group in its entirety will be exiled from the civilized lands of Arabel until the time this fine is paid in full.

Thoughts?

I like it

The only archmage of Arabel is Raubagaush since we never took the title from him upon his 'supposed' death.
Tell them they can keep the title if they can find and murder the old fart.
Ha. Ha.

This is acceptable. I respect the council's decision.

I request that a clerk of the Council draw up the bulletins and publically post them.

@gDarDog said in To the members of the Twelve Council:Dear Council of Twelve,
As you have decided that our titles which hold no noble standing outside of our own organization is no longer allowed, please submit to us within 3 days a list of unacceptable titles to ensure that our reorganization does not infringe upon your newly drawn up law.
Yours Truly,
Title To Be Determined, Jack Wild of the Scarlet Syndicate -
My colleagues, here is the first draft of a proposed reply to Jack Wild. Please review and let me know if this is acceptable.
~DannyMister Wild,
Thank you for your prompt correspondence regarding the recent postings. The impersonation of an authority figure is something we have been fortunate enough to not have to address publicly. So, we thank you for the opportunity to see this spelled out for any who may need it.
As the council is burdened with prioritizing the significance of the many very important matters it addresses, we apologize but creating a list if approved and unacceptable titles is of very low significance in light of the dangers the city faces.
You are obviously a wizard of high intelligence and ambition. As such, you are welcome to use the library to do research on the many titles held throughout the land. After doing such, please feel free to submit a list to the Council. We will be sure to take a moment from our busy docket to review such and send reply.
As far as the time limit given, we are rather perplexed. There was no grace period listed in the law or the notice that was posted. Please make your change immediately or cease using titles for the time being until appropriate ones can be agreed upon.

This will suffice. Well done councilor.
