Just an opinion

True strike, then bow, noone can run from bow. Ok its not optimal damage but there are so many nice arrows and darts and other throwing stuff. Also I think if you can see a man drink a potion like that I know I d run in RL. I m not sure if this appears in the battle dialog box, so it would be a WYSIWYG case. I don't see it as an exploit really as it is, it is very obvious when someone stops fighting to drink any potion. Since you talk of the specific TS animation I think that could be removed and problem is solved.
Similar though applies for stoneskin and barkskin and other spells that create effects, and in PnP are supposedly not visible, so you need spellcraft to recognize them as they re casted, or make it similar to elemental protection spells, effect lasts only a few seconds after casting.
EDIT: In the end since a potion can be recognizable, since it has a specific shape, smell, color and..a stamp, I think the best would be a lore or spellcraft check to recognize it but I see it as hard to script for some reason.

Or…
Those who wish to use True Strike in PvP could work on the tactics they employ to counter the animation.
You're Marines now. You adapt. You overcome. You improvise
Yeah. This.

@Foba:
Only invis. And everyone will use a potion of see invisibility. There are no other ways.
Yeah. This.

Seems a moot point really, if the DMs deem it a WYSIWYG situation.
To me it works rather nicely like this, as I'm never a fan of PvP that uses endgame sequences like True Strike -> Knockdown -> sneak attack to death. To me it's about winning the PvP, not making it exciting.However, I have no problem with taking away the animations on potions, I think that will be a cool addition.
-
I've seen it be done in another servers. It reduces lag and it's easier on the eyes.
-
Of course, you'd have to take animation off all potions.
-
Or have a standard animation of "Quaffing Potion" so that others can see you doing some preparation, but are unaware of quite what you do do.
I'd probably still keep some animations on some potion quaffing that would reflect some physical change.

True stike is a magical effect, when someone casts flame weapon thats pretty obvious as well.
WYSIWYG

Apparently it isn't a moot point anymore. Foba just linked a page showing Mr.Moloch and all of the other DMs calling it an exploit. So now I confus

@Foba:
Just get rid of the animation.
What's the reason for keeping the animation? In my head, I never imagined spells from a potion making lights appear above your head. Maybe a minor glow. And I thought the way potions were identified were color and taste?

Maybe they work like Asterix' and Obelix', here:

@Broken:
Not an exploit, imo. As far as I am aware, CoA is WYSIWYG; Therefore, True Strike is identifiable.
I might be wrong.
You're not, obvious animations are obvious animations. We could discuss if the animation needs to be changed though.
Uh?
/forum/viewtopic.php?t=95 ... ght=potion
C) is pretty clearly exploitive too. There is no way to know what someone just drank in a potion without metagaming.
So don't do A) and C).
PS Just to make it clear, I don't mind wheter it is an exploit or not (even though I can assure you pvp will become a mess if everyone runs back and forth every time a ts potion is drunk). I will act accordingly to what the DMs or players will decide. As long as we all abide by the same rules.
That was when I didn't realize there was a distinct glow about your head.

So, we revert to WYSIWYG, yes?
If you can see the effect, you can act upon it.

Yes. I say we don't get too nit picky and give the DMs more work to do. For a game, sometimes you just have to live with WYSIWYG.
One could RP this effect a few ways, including if your PC recognizes the potion from the bottle type, then he could act on it. As if I was fighting Popeye and watched him reach for a green can of spinach and eat it, I would run!
