RE: 2016-06-18 - 20:00 GMT +1 till 00:00 - Sibilant Shade Event
I'd love to make this quest with my dorf, but am battling with job interviews.

RE: Militia Deputies
Hi,
I've been removed from the PD forum. I haven't stopped playing my PD Royal Scout character, Daniel Wintersun. Life has socked me sideways for a little while. I intent to return and continue playing my character unless the DMs object.

RE: A sad day for the wee hours of the server
There are issues with larger quest parties.
-
They tend to focus on "Splat Red"
-
Folks are too busy splatting red to talk, shame on you, even RP.
-
Folks are too worried about their buffs running out to plan a manoeuvre. It can be so much fun planning an assault on a group.
Q'lerb, you take the left flank. I'll move up the right, and leave Godrick to march up the centre. Priest Calford, you move up and support Godrick once he's engaged, and keep him alive with your healing. I'll step in and cover you if it gets difficult. Jancise and Lyra, you target the mage with your bow and spells.
How much more inclusive is that than just "Charge", albeit, there are some PCs for which "Charge" is wholly appropriate, and awesome fun!

Front liners often charge ahead, leaving flankers and rear-guard vulnerable, or just leave them bored ridged while they catch free XP.
Personally, I love a party of three or four. I don't really care if the players are long term friends or I've just met them. I do love questing with friends, but if there's another player hovering around, I'll always include them, for, even if I prefer a smaller quest party, I know what it feels like to be excluded.
I tend to grab another character I know IC and start building a party around that, usually with a sending, but if there are enough in the spire, I won't bother with the sending.

RE: Out of Curiosity
Another House. A blend of houses that work for rebuilding Arabel, but clash in how Arabel is to be rebuilt. A blend of Houses that clash and strive against each other to be the ones who find and claim the resources needed to rebuild Arabel. A blend of Houses that squabble over how Arabel is to be defended against the yet finally come together for epic quests that save Arabel, or rebuild Arabel.
I think most players wish to see Arabel rebuilt to something like it's former glory, so what ever faction is developed should have that as a core purpose. The "How" should clash with other factions.
Of the two factions suggested, EO and KotMS, I think the KotMS would better fit the current drive for rebuilding Arabel.

RE: Laptop Advice
A netbook can run NWN, but I suspect you'll want to use the Aurora tool to develop the module. That really needs as big a screen as you can afford. 15.6" screen would be OK on the laptop you're considering, but going smaller towards a netbook would have you crying while trying to develop the module. At the end of the day, City of Arabel is much more about the interaction with different players and PCs than about graphical performance. If we were that focussed on graphics, we'd have run for more modern games a number of years ago. You're choice seems reasonable, given your price limitation.
Memory is sufficient, Processor is well sufficient, Hard Disk capacity is more than you need for NWN and screen size is tolerable. Go for it, but probably upgrade to Windows 10 as soon as you have your first backup.

RE: Windows 10
I can concur. Same experience, upgrading from 8.1 to 10. NWN kept chugging along.

RE: Log Rotation Script
For anyone testing this, please let me know both good and bad feedback, bugs and suggestions for improvement. Let me know if you are testing it, so I know enough people have tested it before we decide to go live.

RE: Log Rotation Script
It can be used in exactly the same way as the current download, and will actually replace the current downloader. The extra feature will allow the storage of all your Chat Logs. These logs are created every time you play Neverwinter Nights and stored in the {nwn}\Logs folder where {nwn} is the folder that your Neverwinter Nights installation is. It records everything you say and you hear other people say. It's useful to keep a track of important RP sessions where you need to re-read some of the details. It is also very important if someone has been inappropriate verbally either IC or OOC and you wish to highlight this to the DMs.
If the Rotate Logs is checked, your log file from the last session will be copied to a new folder and dated so that you can review it in Notepad or another such editor.
An example of what you might see is as follows:
@Example:
[Lamancha] Daniel Wintersun: [Tell] silentpaws!
[Lamancha] Daniel Wintersun: [Talk] Silentpaws?
Bloated Wolf: [Talk] The animal's belly bursts open allowing a new creature to emergeAs you can see, you can distinguish between Tells and standard Talk etc.
