Just an opinion

A couple things:
-
There's also sound. I don't see the problem with this, really. More experienced players can identify spells being cast purely by the sound they make, and this does give them something of an advantage.
-
However, wanting animations removed just because 'it gives someone an unfair advantage' while you're using something that gives you the ability to smack them down with the least effort for only a few gold coins, I don't really see who has the unfair advantage here >_>
-
Use it tactically. Scare people. Disrupt lines? >_> I really don't see the problem here
-
If you want the animation removed, prepare to emote looks grimly determined to land the next strike every time you quaff one of those silly things. It'd show in your stance, movements, everything preparing for that sure hit.
-
-
That was when I didn't realize there was a distinct glow about your head.
Nothing else to discuss then. WYSIWYG.
-
Zap says many silly things, but this is one of his better ones. I actually agree.
And whining that people disengage you and decide to flee from pvp? That's childish. If you're sour for not getting an easy win from your TS potion, suck it up and find a better strategy next time.
I for one will not be the first one to charge the fullbuffed cleric if I've watched him cast spells in himself. That goes for the fighter who quaffs tons of potions/bloodstones too. Same thing if I see that you're suddenly all grey from a stoneskin potion. I won't bother to beat the 80 damage away before hurting you again while you're free to bash away at my soft flesh. Should we remove the visuals for that too? Or all potions so everyone won't be all barky all the time? There's no reason to stop at just TS potions! That'd make no sense at all.
Its called using your brain. Unless you're suicidal and your character has 8 Wis.

AGAIN. I believe I made it pretty clear mine was NOT a whine. It's very simple guys:
- A DM says something is an exploit and you shouldn't do it.
- Someone does it nevertheless
- Since I'm not a bastard and I know that 99% the guy/guys doing so did so because they have not read that specific post with a DM saying such thing is an exploit, instead of running to a DM and saying "that guy used an exploit", I make a kind post pointing out the situation.
Since the DMs have cleared the matter, there is nothing more to discuss, expecially for those that once more do not care to read posts and see flame where there is none.
-
You can actually see "Someone Drinks a Potion of True Strike" sometimes.
-
I think that depends on your spellcraft check (Which honestly from a roleplaying perspective doesn't make a whole lot of sense).
-
Foba,
You put your case well. It was called an Exploit by the DMs previously, and you highlighted it. It has now been reviewed by DMs and players alike and felt not to be an exploit.
I don't think anyone is or should complain about what you raised. In fact, you should be applauded for raising it

Amen!

You still get the: "You see John Joe drinking a Haste Potion" message, which I reckon wouldn't invalidate the WYSIWG excuse for running away.

Once he starts moving inhumanly fast though…
Fact is, potion or not, magic is magic, and I may be wrong but I can't think of a 100% covert magical spell that doesn't make a single flash of light or something that's unnoticable.
-
It'd only be the case for a levul two 8 int magic-hating barbarian who's never seen what a Truestrike spell looks like. It's really rather distinct.

…or someone without the OOC knowledge.
