Change Trident Base Stats
-
Currently they do 1D8 damage, X2 on a crit and only crit on a 20. This is very poor for a two handed martial weapon, they are no better than spears.
I think they should be brought in line with Halberds, which are 1D10 and X3 or they should be reclassified as a simple weapon.
The Umberlee Trident Zach uses is good because it is a single handed one and has two lots of bonus damage but if you compare it to something like a silver longsword, it's not really that great considering the poor crit range and no attack bonus.
I've also noticed they are missing off the crafting list so it's not possible to get a silver trident. Any chance these could be added?
Thanks

if the changes that you suggest were brought in then it is likely that the 2 types of elemental damage that it does would be nerfed down to 2 each rather than d4 each, or maybe one removed entirely to facilitate balance for the weapon.#
ie it gets 2 types of bonus damage because it has the stats you describe

@Cadiz yeah I wouldn't have an issue with that.

It is a bit silly the stats on this item suck ass.
I'd be fine with it having the same stat line as a spear, but...
Maybe 1d6x4, to make it unique?

it's random loot found in an exploration area
it isnt supposed to be awesome -

The Umberlee Trident is fine as it is now and I agree it would need nerfing if the base stats changed for tridents but the other tridents are not great and the lack of crafting for them also sucks.

the lack of crafting for them
this is a suggestion i can work with given time

@Echo honestly I wouldn't bother if the base stats are not going to be amended because people won't use them. They are very underpowered compared to other options. I've not seen anyone else use a trident.
