- Dhampyr/Cleric/LN/0/Elara Harrow
- Applying for Dhampyr subrace, EiG House of Ash
- Goals
- Guide Souls to Rest: As a cleric of Jergal, her duty is to help guide the souls of the departed to their final rest. She will seek out opportunities to assist spirits in finding peace, whether by performing last rites, banishing undead, or resolving unfinished business that binds them to the material plane. This will involve other players by taking them on ventues seeking out places of undeath (quests and regions, Tilverton primarily because I'm tired of Deadwell as a focus of all things undeath-related).
- Restore Balance: Jergal represents the balance between life and death. Elara will strive to maintain or restore this balance in the world, opposing those who disrupt it. This will involve stopping necromancers, opposing excessive resurrection magic, and combating any undead that threaten to upset the equilibrium. Possible PvP with necromancers, any Bhaalists that remain, etc. Will involve other players by forming alliances of those who may oppose necromancers but not necessarily support Jergal.
- Uncover Mysteries of Death: Elara is driven to uncover the deeper secrets of death, searching for ancient texts, cryptic rituals, or lost knowledge that sheds light on the true nature of the afterlife. I will take players into the dark creepy places of the server, and maybe the desert hidden places, seeking such information.
- Explore Her Darker Side: Resulting from her Dhampyr heritage (of which she does not know), Elara has (what she thinks is) a weird quirk of tasting blood now and then Dhampyr. She will seek to discover why she is as she is, and how to further manifest these powers for the good of the church.
- TheWraith/Echo
- Backstory: Elara was born in Cormyr to parents who were moderately successful merchants. Tragedy struck when her mother passed away during childbirth, with Elara barely surviving the ordeal. Always a gloomy child, Elara eventually found beauty in death. At the age of 15, Elara stumbled upon a hidden shrine dedicated to Jergal. There, in the silence and melancholy, she felt a profound connection to both death and her mother. She began to study the teachings of Jergal, finding solace and purpose in serving as a cleric dedicated to maintaining the balance between life and death. It was also during this time that her Dhampyr abilities began to manifest, first with the tasting of her own blood after she cut herself, then the blood of others from time to time. The older she has gotten, the more she feels the call to do so.
- I imagine Elara to be a lot like Lydia from Beetlejuice or Wednesday Addams. Although she is obsessed with death and the macabre, she is also sympathetic and
friendly. She seldom shows her emotions, but when she does they have the potential to be quite exaggerated in one direction or the other.

Confirmation. Let’s make sure to have the faction launched etc. before any character is even made and subrace set up.

No opposition, I'm just curious how she became a dhampyr.
This piece appears to be missing from the character's background. -

because she almost died being born and her mother died giving birth to her
dhampyr isnt necessarily descended from a vampire,
at least i interpreted it to be more "death-touched" more than ancestry
I can drop that aspect though if you guys dont think it fits thoughjust let me know, and i'll change it up for just human
-
the more i think about it the more i think you guys are right
i'll drop the dhampyr part and just do human with house of ash -
We've never been really concerned with how someone becomes a subrace have we? Or is the question mostly some fact finding about the nature of the pc's link with the undeath as a launch point for storylines?
Seems to me PC has an as yet undetermined link to undeath somewhere in her history. Part of her journey and communion/fascination with spirits and the undeath is to learn this family legacy and secret?

I am not against the Dhampyr and think you will do it justice
Was just interested :) -

I wouldn't abandon the subrace.
If the how is still a mystery to explore at this point, wonderful....Just a sip, a little drip now...
Calls, the forbidden Cup of Jergal...<_<

Sounds great, lovely to see a different Dhampyr background

It would completely be a mystery to her.
I'll edit the app to include something about exploring what she thinks is just an odd habit she picked up. -
From Dragon Magazine #371, "Playing Dhampyr"
A rare crossbreed with several of the powers of a vampire and none of the weaknesses, a dhampyr is thought to be born of the union of a vampire male and a mortal female. The truth is that such hybrids are far more common than many folk think. A dhampyr can result from a vampire biting a pregnant female, as well as through more mundane means. Some offspring carry the spark of immortality in their veins for years, until the kindling of fate gives the spark a place to catch. Play a dhampyr if you want . . . ✦ a character of a usual race but with a secret twist. ✦ to play a hero a lot like a vampire. ✦ to have access to supernatural powers like those of a vampire. Furthermore, the age at which dhampyr abilities manifest varies with each dhampyr.
- Maybe she's not her father's daughter and was fathered by a vampire.
- Maybe her mother was bitten, and never told anyone.
- Maybe her father carries the vampire traits but kept it secret.
Elara, however, does not know any of this. She just thinks she has a weird quirk of tasting blood now and then.

Putting this here but will update the subrace to be called “death touched.” More concept flexibility

Sounds good and better

Does that mean I can drop the vampire aspect?
Or, is the stuff I added good and I should keep it? -
I prefer the death touched aspect, but lets leave the background unknown for poor Wraith ;)

Going to leave it as an unknown for Elara.
Could be hereditary through one of her parents
Could be because her mom died while Elara still wasnt "out" of the womb
Could be anything ... -
