[Denied]Aasimar/Cleric/Chaotic Evil/4/Aizeira Jardan
-
Character: Aasimar/Cleric/Chaotic Evil/4/Aizeira Jardan
Applying for: Aasimar subrace, glowing yellow eyes and shadow summoning theme
Goals: Masquerading as a Mystran Priestess under the moniker 'The Angel of the Alleys', Aizeira will covet a seat on the Council of Twelve.
This will be accomplished by making herself indispensable as a ritualistic expert, offering her services to spearhead magical interests on behalf of the City. At present, there are a number of high profile plots which have need of rituals, wards etc. Hillsmarch and Stormhorns most prominently.
Basing herself in the Slums to build-up the benevolent image she has conjured for herself, Aizeria will look to align herself with the anti-Tilverton movement as an opportunity to benefit from any fallout. She has her eyes set on repossessing the Temple of Talona ostensibly for Mystra in return for services rendered in ousting a despot, although of course it would in actuality be a Temple of Shar.
[5:44 AM] Gloomy_Sunday: Aizeria wants to portray herself as sympathetic to the plight of the commoner and push for easement of their suffering. Her gimmick is a pleasant carer who believes magic can help. She will lean on her apparent good nature to steal into the confidence of people and engender support. Ultimately, she wants to work toward the creation of a mystical fog within the alleys which alleviates pain, supposedly, whilst in truth it will numb the mind and promote forgetfulness: a state she feels lends itself to conversion to Shar. This will be her main personal plot she is pursuing.
Character: Aizeira was young when she was left with the clergy of Shar, her mother was superstitious and did not know what manner of creature she had given birth to, assuming that the girl with the glowing eyes was some kind of fiend blood.
Aizeria was left as an orphan in the care of the Church of Shar as an oddity. The Church delighted in torturing all empathy and humanity from her, leaving her a blank canvas. I intend to portray Aizeira as a charismatic villain whose virtue is skin deep. Well aware of her lineage and how to wield it in subterfuge, Aizeria will be a preaching priest, with eyes on the luckless people of the Slums.
She is ever looking to draw closer to Shar in spiritual rituals and will look to align herself with the lawless elements to support her. Her ultimate objective is to earn a Shadow Kiss, as she considers it, taking on the essence of Shadowfell and combining it with her soul. -
Gloomy sent his application to me on Discord so I am posted it here.

(Need to teach the new guy how to make polls. :D)
That said,
This is, just lame.
-
Yes I need to learn so many things and yes thats a lame way to end a character...
-
The idea is fine, though I hate evil aligned Aasimar unless they are properly RP'd. I'd want to see the character constantly struggling against their nature.
But mostly I'd want to know if they won't just quit this character too.
-
Gloomy is more than capable.
I'll vote yes on that basis. But I have reservations that he'll be able to stick to the concept for longer than a few weeks before pivoting, yet again.

I agree with voss, these concepts make great opportunities to get deep into a multi-layered character. An internal struggle/serious flaw I think would not only help the app but be far more interesting for Gloomy and others. Not voting as I haven't been active, just my two cents :).

Concerning your app, how do you intend to portray your Aasimar heritage besides outward appearance?Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 17:57
Thats a good question, as any good nature that she has is merely a mask that she wears a lot of what it means to be aasimar has been beaten out of her. I think that with aasimars and tieflings a lot of it comes down to them finding out about their heritage or living up to their heritage and I felt it might be interesting to have outsider heritage while also being an outsider to her own nature and rather than exploring her heritage she is looking to carve her own path against what she has been given.. that kinda thing
do you get that or was it a ramble?Voss — vandaag om 17:58
Kind of, it's useful for your concept to appear trustworthy. But if you take away all of the internal struggle and aasimar personality. Then how is it different from a human with glowy eyes and better stats?
"I felt it might be interesting to have outsider heritage while also being an outsider to her own nature and rather than exploring her heritage she is looking to carve her own path against what she has been given."
Because this sounds like you're going to ignore everything that makes you an aasimar.Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:01
well its subverting the expectations of an aasimar for those who interact with her and while i was thinking originally of going with a teifling or even a human I got the idea of the 'Angel of the Alleys' thing. I mean the better stats is one thing, but its more about enhancing how convincing her cover story is, and playing something a bit differentGloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:02
thats a good point, and its probably absolutely right.
I mean, I can say i would portray the inner struggle between her nature as an aasimar and how she was brought up, but i dont think i have the skill as a roleplayer to accurately do that justiceVoss — vandaag om 18:04
The appearance will be useful for your concept, which I think is the main point for you wanting Aasimar. But I think myself and some other DMs also want to see you struggle a bit with your heritage. Otherwise like I said its really just human with convenient features.
And by that point I'd be happier to give you an 'illusion' of glowing eyes, maybe gifted by the Sharran church or w/e. Than let you be an Aasimar.
Because you wouldn't be an Aasimar.Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:06
I mean a teifling or an aasimar can have glowy eyes, and as a teifling or a Cansin I could say i had celestial heritage, I intend to invest in bluff whatever the case anyway, I am also aware that there are a few teiflings alreadyVoss — vandaag om 18:07
It might be better? I've briefly played a tiefling with yellow eyes who bluffed he was an Aasimar. So it can be done, but if you want Aasimar we want to see you RP an Aasimar.Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:07
thats fairVoss — vandaag om 18:08
The same for Tiefling, if you're going to be a tiefling you'll need to RP their tendencies.
Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:09
yeah, what I had written wasnt for a tiefling, id probably not see a tiefling trying to start a congregation
I see them more as selfish loner typesVoss — vandaag om 18:09
Well, a tiefling could be disgusted by having to act like a good person. So because of that they could act out and perpetrate some vile acts behind the scenes to act out.
But tieflings are good at lying, and needn't really be loners.
Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:11
tbh your right though, i can, with ranks in bluff, do all of the things i set out to do as a humanVoss — vandaag om 18:11
Well, there's also Baalzebul for example.
Who is the prince of lies, and was outwardly beautiful. But disgusting on the inside.
Which might fit the aesthetic of your concept?Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:12
could it be tailored to a tiefling do you think?Voss — vandaag om 18:12
Sure.Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:13
what pointers have you got in that regardVoss — vandaag om 18:14
You'd get what you wanted primarily, which is an outwardly beautiful/trustworthy apperance. Whilst your nature as a tiefling would make you a good actor, but also give you the desire to act out and do evil.
Maybe the more you act like a good person the more stressed your character becomes?Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:15
that sounds good yeahVoss — vandaag om 18:15
I can swap the app to tiefling, if you're happy with that.Gloomy_Sunday — vandaag om 18:16
I am yes.Voss — vandaag om 18:16
Alrighty. -
TL;DR:
Swap app over to tiefling descended from the Lord of Lies. Beautiful on the outside, disgusting on the inside. So with glowing yellow eyes, pretending to be an Aasimar while actually being a tiefling. While RPing the tendencies of a Tiefling.
Similar to what I did with my tiefling before going back to DMing.

Tiefling is a Tiefling. Disguises are not supported. He can tell people whatever he wants ICly but there must be features that wsiwyg a tiefling. Latok had a pc for example told everyone that he was not a tiefling but a descended from Satyr. PCs believed him ICly but he looked like a tiefling (curved horns and tail and I think we even gave him goat legs?), acted a lot like a tiefling, had the tiefling subrace etc.
This does not sound like a cleric to me, more like a pact situation but not overly hung up on that.

I know I am new here. I know from playing with these players that when gloomy rps he is really cool to interact with. That being said the way he ended his last character after such a short period of time was very lame. Had it just been a case of character leaves Arabel cause player is not having fun I think I would feel differently. It happens to us all. Or if it was rl got in the way well that I completely understand. I personally feel bad when I would apply for something and couldn't see it through do to a number of reasons. So with out some assurance this too will last longer than a couple weeks I side on a vote of no. Unless someway we can get some assurances.
-
@prof-misclick The idea as I understand it is to be a priest focused on subterfuge, which is fairly fitting to Shar. Preaching goodness but ultimately using it to advance the agenda of Shar, I think especially in the Silence this can work well.
I don't think any disguises were mentioned. But I did briefly play a tiefling who had golden eyes and no really obvious 'evil' features. I more showed the tiefling nature through roleplay, I think for this concept it could work. IF he roleplayed evil tendencies.
-
“Pretending to be an Aasimar “ and “Beautiful/Trustworthy appearance”
As long as I can look at the pc and read the description and think at first glance it’s a Tiefling then I’m satisfied and RPing why it might not be a Tiefling is acceptable. That’s what the disguise comment was addressing.

I think he rolls a new concept hoping for certain immediate perks and reputation right away. If he doesn't get the reactions he hopes for, he gets bored with it. I don't see anything that screams a NO vote but I have no high expectations either.
-
any other votes coming in? So we might reply to him a decision?
-
4v4, rejected for now

Spoke with the player. They indeed to stick with this character but cannot rule out getting killed in PVP and whatever. If the player intends to stick with this character longer than a couple of week I will change my vote to a yes if that is allowed

[10:11 AM] Gloomy_Sunday: Hey prof, is there any feedback on my app? Zool said it is looking like it might not go through
[11:23 AM] Professor Misclick: General Opinions for the team are:
Tiefling needs to look like a tiefling and people to easily wysiwyg. You can rp that you are not a tielfing and perhaps don't need to go full out with the evil features but their needs to be some part of the description and rp that is "tieflingish"
You're a good rper and we accept people need to play what they want. The shortness of the last few characters and the timeline of saying you were not enjoying Draegon then suddenly forcing FD PvP and therefore compromising the faction with loss of items when you had zero stake in the outcome left a bit of a bad taste in the teams mouth.
The application with the recent adjustments, and the above has garnered some positive votes but not enough for it to pass.
[11:26 AM] Professor Misclick: My PERSONAL opinion would be to play a non application character for awhile and have fun. EiG some stuff.
[11:31 AM] Gloomy_Sunday: Tbh I didn't agree with switching it to tiefling from aasimar and feel people didn't want an aasimar that didn't fit the mould. I had no intention of playing just a human with better stats, and her back story was pretty integral to the character. I mean I was going a non armour wearing cleric, hardly op right? As to Draegan forcing PvP, I like things to move forward, and didn't create that situation to piss off my faction, I just felt like we were languishing in a point where everyone is so risk averse. I entered combat with ercole in good faith intending on handing him over to tilverton to be executed. I sought out faction members who were online but constantly afk so wouldn't buff me or help.
[11:35 AM] Professor Misclick: OK. No point in playing something that from the start is not what you wanted. We'll mark the application as denied and you can decide where to go from there. Hope you come up with something fun that the entire team can get behind.
Gloomy_Sunday: Thanks for the honest feedback
[11:36 AM] Professor Misclick: Cheers!
