Future DM Plots

First idea sounds like an entirely different module Olouth but the other ideas sound cool.

Olouth with plots out the ass. All of them sound awesome if gigantic in scale.

I concur Dobby, they do sound grand in scale. But, I will make my wishes a bit more simple; I would love to see a plot, that forces alliances across alignments, believes and classes, but at the same time also welcomes conflict. I especially like plots that allow makes the NE smuggler become the best man for the job, or the CG vigilante ranger is forced to fight alongside the enemy. I loved the Phoenix Legion plot, because both sides had to struggle to find their bearings. There was no good vs evil, but freedom vs believed Tyranny. I loved seeing Lord Fezznick the LN/LG Lord of Arabel, fighting alongside Lord CN Deschurr, against the Zhentarim invasion, while the Unseen Hand, the evil thieves guild fought next to them, as the enemy, the Totalitarian LE Zhentarim, would be a greater threat to their interests than the LG rule of Arabel. I also liked the idea during the Candlekeep ordeal, that a council of ALL priests fought against them, because it was heresy to all gods, not just the good or the evil.
I hate FORCED conflict, but like conflict that is based upon something that makes alignment come second, and believes, outlook and heart of the PC come first.

everyone wants the mythalite. if the city doesn't get its sh!t together to fend off assaults, DOOMINUS GLOOM!

Micro Meta Plots. What I mean by this is a meta plot that is server wide but solved in a month or less. Something that either has a quick fix or an open ended fix.
An example of such would be maybe a new upstart wants to become the premier gang leader in Old town. Plebs want to stop competition, Cit wants to crush him before he gets a chance to grow and maybe a few characters jump on his bandwagon. Quick turn around, cross Dm support, and several "pre-determined" outcomes based on player input. For example Defeated, Joined with Plebs, take over another gang
Or maybe something even more direct like an evil outsider coming through nearby or a bandit/orc/goblin camp cropping up and the forces of the server trying to eliminate them. This could create simple (realitively) open DM events, could shape rumors, and make some movers and shakers stand out without getting jaded or bored with long winded plots. Long and over-arching plots like the undead kings are good for server focus and story, however, maybe break off some meta plots from it that are quick and easily solved to keep action and interest up. Week long necromancer/Orc/Etc plot that in some way or another involves players cross time zones? The most successful thing to me with the Shadovar plot was everyone got to contribute, it wasn't just the lucky few who could attend one big event. Players in several factions and several time zones had a definitive chance to battle the enemy and effect the outcome. It MEANT something instead of just being a lead up to someone else's glory. Something that gives a chance for small victorys/defeats that lead up to the overall outcome and can involve everyone in little groups would honestly revitalize interest and participation in my opinion.
Another awesome idea would be of you had a sort of "Command and Control Point." Maybe you have several newly discovered Mythalite locations and Events can be sparked at any time to control these locations. At the end of a pre-determined time, whichever faction controls the most points gets a faction-wide reward. Maybe a medal, maybe a vanity item, maybe an upgrade to the faction HQ etc. Would induce cross time-zone competition/co-operation and involve everyone.

I'd point out, the entire idea that the Council is Evil and the Court is Good is ridiculous.
Cormyr is a Lawful Good nation, Lhal, Aldek, the Commodore are all GOOD people sitting on the Council even if its led by Hardcastle (who you all think is evil…). Meanwhile the Plebian Court contains bloodstone sellers, assassins, bandit leaders (almost all evil), is led by the Citizen (whose motives no one has quite discovered yet) and includes a handful of former Phoenix Legion revolutionaries (who are chaotic good).
The two factions are not alignment based. They are focused around goals and agendas, with the Council leaning toward lawful and the Court leaning toward chaotic. It certainly isn't "good vs evil".

Without sounding whiny, how these things are perceived by the players, is generally in the hands of the DM Team. I remember the same discussion was had regarding Maleen, where his actions, however well intentioned, came off as evil. I played a somewhat higher ranking member of the Plebian Court. And while I got the feeling me and Aulten werent necessarily ALONE in being goodly, overall the faction, how the NPCs behaved, and the absolute lack of Limits in regards to membership, gave off the feeling that it wasnt an chaotic faction based around goals, but a purey evil faction that allowed a few stray good fellows membership.
As to Hardcastle "not" necessarily being evil. I would argue that if he wasnt evil prior to the Wheat King attack, he sure as hell became it during.

I don't think Lord Hardcastle is evil. It's just as likely he is neutral.

Smite him and find out

Just do a turn undead in his general direction
Or not
