A sad day for the wee hours of the server
-
While I understand quest trains for some people… when there are so few on why do quest trains ignore sendings, stay uber quiet, and just run from quest to quest. Why not ever answer sendings for quests with alternate goals.. oh.. I guess RP is out of the question and gods forbid someone asks ahead of time for a slow pace on something. Sad day for CoA when "I needs tha lootz and xps" trumps the "Oh, someone wants to quest for a different reason?". I guess the odd hours go from RP server to powerquest server.
-
I personally find this sort of behavior disgusting. People should involve others at every opportunity. If you have room in your group, invite someone else.
-
Well to be fair, sometimes people just want to quest for the hell of it on occasion, and that's not a bad thing. They could just be too tired to really make an effort to RP efficiently. However, the atmosphere is MUCH different than in V4. There seems to be a stronger focus on the prospect of exclusive questing and covert party formation. It's much cliquier. It wasn't always like this though.
-
I think this has been a topic about nine or ten times since I've started playing here.
To sum up how each of these threads ends every time:
People should make sendings. If they don't, it's usually because they've got a group already around or are already in the process of questing. Its not personal, some people just do not like to max out the party cap on every single quest.
And
People play for different reasons, nobody has a 'right' way to play. Some like to quest and get the loot and gold. Some like to go off to RP and do other stuff. Neither is 'right' and neither can be 'wrong.'

More warm bodies on the server would allow for more diversity of gameplay and bust up the clique (imagined or real) mentality. Spam the email boxes and social media sights of former players to reel some people back to the server.
-
Moloch said he was going to make a change in the questing system about rewarding larger parties. If this is implemented I think you should expect to see a change in this.
-
I know I been avoiding sending recently.. but for pretty ic reasons and I suspect I'm not the only one. Still hanging around the Spire still a pretty good way to get on quest, I know my last quest train had to worry about max party size .
-
Come join us out away from the citadel we take anyone that isn't a known enemy with us.
Of course we also don't do much sendings now as we recruit others in character, but if you turn up and show some interest you will be welcomed with open arms…The arms may very well have claws on the end,but thats the chance you take. -
People should do more sendings. It is sad the cliques I see. They're pretty obvious cliques too and make me sad.
-
Yeah. No one comes to my sendings. Hence, I do not make them and recruit IC.
-
What prompted this was I did make a sending, only to see one person AFK setting at the bar, and the other two not saying a word in Talk, only running around, getting buffs from the Dweomerkeeper or talking to quest givers rapidly to rush off afterwords. I stood there waiting to hear anything be it "I am here about that sending" or "I am not interested in what you are asking" and all I got when I sent tells stating "I guess you are not interested" was confirmation that I was being ignored due to a Quest train that cared not to change course or stop.
It is one thing to be ignored legitimately for IC reasons, and a complete other to find out you are getting ignored for OOC reasons. Please quest trains, if there are 4 people logged in and you are in full locomotive mode.. take a moment to at least talk to someone about why you are not helping them. Just rushing past them several times without a word is flat out rude IC and OOC. Hell, take half a second to emote that you are ignoring someone.. much more preferable than just seeing toons run around like a silent film.
Yeah, I will admit I might have been a bit assward sending tells about "I guess you are not interested" But if you do not let someone know you are not we can only guess that you did not hear the sendings.

I shall admit that on occasion, I have done this. Not being exclusive to the point of not wanting anyone there, but not making sending number 2 or 3 or 4 if I have a decent group established. However, I do have reasons.
Number 1: With my current character, 95% of the time, I am questing WITHOUT any magical support. With so few spell casters, and in top of that, with so few spellcasters my character would travel with, (And here I wont even mention that when I do find one, 99% of them are mostly self buffers) I am left to fend for myself. That means, that most often I am also the only frontliner in the party.
With the questing system as it is, the more people I add to the quest, the harder the spawns will be, the less gold / Loot I will gain due to more mouths to feed, and the EXP drops significantly.
So, if say, I try my best at the Mystran Shrine quest (Silent Song), it will be me and my consumables, vs quite nasty spawns. With no stoneskins, no magical support, no improved invisibility, I am spending equalling 800-1000 gold pieces in consumables trying to rip my way through said quest. And IC and OOC, I do not mind doing so. It makes sense for my character. But with a smaller party, that gold equals exp gained somewhat evenly. With a full party, it becomes 3 gp pr EXP on some quests, if not more. And when I make a sending, most likely, the party will end up full. If the questing system begins rewarding larger parties, either by giving better loot, higher end exp or similar, epic. Because I want to involve others.
Secondly, and thats just me, smaller parties usually means better roleplay during the quest, and it becomes more time effecient. For someone like me, who usually can only play for an hour a day tops, I spend most days roleplaying and plotting. So when I finally go on a questing spree, I like that questing spree to not make me useless when I have to fight ubber buffed, far higher level opponents PvP.

Didnt that thing I fixed involve quest XP and groups Moloch? or is it still being tested?
-
End quest XP is still being tested. However, it should be good to go once I get a few more people on Nada's to check that its working.
That said, MORE people in your party has always yielded more spawns which are more gold and more experience. Loot chests give more treasure the bigger your party is. All quests should now give gold per person, those that don't should be reported so I can fix them.
I should likely set up quest rewards to give more gold for a bigger party too, I don't care that its unrealistic! I want to reward people who actually bring people on quests instead of their same clique. Fuck the cliques. I'm tired of seeing them and will go out of my way to reward the people who are inclusive.
-
I think there will always be one or two bad eggs around who really are only in it for the smashing. Personally, I consider myself a propper quest-player. Some times, there may be IC reasons why I decide to cut someone out, sometimes I may just not have enough time to wait around for people to show up, but most of the times my main reason for denying people is max party limit. My figuring is that questing is my favourite thing to do, and I have alot of fun doing it, and if I go around having fun with people around me, they're likley to have fun too. More fun, means more happy people.
-
I have the same problem as Khamal.
It's definitely not the true ol' powergamer quest train that's not active at the moment. Almost all you have to do is play League of Legends and have a character that isn't a complete liability. I'm kind of offended about the remarks as the more mechanically inclined character groups were very inclusive such as the "dream team" group that ran scrambled eggs.
Exclusivity tends to be on plots and scripted quests sometimes get in that category when discussing them amongst groups. My feeling toward the current volcano one is that it's generally a BROADLY inclusive plot that doesn't really have PC enemies. Why would [EBOL] want molten lava on their house? Somehow people seem to think it's some sort of contest.
-
I've personally been avoiding sendings lately because there is a very strong "thug" team at the moment that tends to show up and demand gold, or forces you to PvP, and ICly, we try to avoid tipping them off as to where we are going.

There is?

Yes there is,havent you seen them?

We need more senders. Well, I didn't play for a while, so there might be some new ones I missed.
How many public ones do we have?
