New server coming online very soon
-
A friend of mine(who I met thru this forum) is almost ready to go live with a new NVN server. They been workin on it forever and promises to be awesome. Im sure there will be bugs to work out but im also sure everyone will have a chance to make an impact and not get ignored! PM me for details!
-
Is this by any chance Netheril Rising?
-
While we don't mind people advertising on our forums, isn't it a little in bad taste to do so without actually asking the DM team here if it is alright to try to poach our players?
-
it is netheril rising actually….and no I don't find it in bad taste at all...I get tells 100 times a day complaining about favoritism dms show...everytime it is brought up it is locked and thrown in a closet. yet we keep coming here for the PLAYER base and great rp...so I offer the players who are new and want a chance to be INVOLVED in something other than killing rats a new home. everyone knows your player base shrinks every week, and since gamespy has shut down its hard to find new servers to try. And I would have asked but im sure no response would have been givin seeing as how I have not played for the past 8 years. kinda funny isn't it that soooo many people complain about certain DMs yet nothing is done. Your reputations preceed you and I should have listened months ago...now show us im right and lock and delete this
-
Wow…..
-
I never seem to understand why people believe that being an ass hat, feel they are right in their insults, if the insulted is offended…
Have fun at Netheril Bob. -
Tiralin reborn?
claps hands Well done, sir, subtle…
-
I don't think he comes close to Tiralin tbh, there was no double wallop fuck yous to anyone. But still poor taste
-
I do play other servers but i think your recruitment posters need more work.

@Crazy:

This really shocks me, Crazy Bob, considering we had at least one or two DMs (zool and another) that were going to support our player plots of a few months ago, which never happened due to all the PLAYERS except me leaving, not having anything to do with DMs ignoring us.
I guess we might as well give up and not bother again after having gotten some replacements, as what DM in their right mind would want to waste their time now, if their effort is viewed that way…
-
All honestly, you probably shouldn't try to advertise them, ruining their reputation with possibly very little connection to the team building that other server.
Gmork is a fine guy, and I'm sure so are the others. It pained me to see them go, and I will try their server for sure.
While I'm no DM, as a player's personal opinion I think a fair ad would be fine. But this is… rather funny. Or sad. And make no mistake. I mean the first post as well! The 'send me a message so you can learn the secret' thing instead of being straight. -
Ok i will depart not with hate, but disappointment. One can only invest so much time in a video game before he is reaping some kind of reward. I cant even get a DM to give me some advice as to how to move a plot along. I get told countless times a day by half a dozen people that since i am not apart of the DM plot/factions i will be ignored. I think to myself, that hardly seems right, these guys are fellow D&D freaks and should help along everyone. So weeks go by, pms are sent…nothing....months go by....nothing. Yet i see blue skinned genies and half dragons walking around a server in which DM permission has to give permission to do so. I think to myself damn, someone has time to hook him up with kickass lvl 1 armor, or a sweet lookin hammer at lvl 1, but they don't have time to pm me and say ok lets do this, this, and this and get your plot moving along. Then, people say "told you so, weve tried for years but never get DM help". Easy for you vets to sit back and say this is in poor taste when you have potential worshipers of your server getting shit on. Everyone else afraid to speak up in fear you metagamers will take it IG, which ive already seen happen to a few, by a few. So, instead of acting like righteous dorks, how about admitting the shit goes on and working to fix it. You wonder why the player base is so small and yall know each other....i log on ravencroft at any time and there is atleast 30-40 players.....if your goal is to play with the same people day in and day out your doing a fantastic job...why not just set a password? why waist us noobs time. We come in with open minds and open hearts...wait patiently(yes i would consider waiting months for a plot hook from a dm a long time when there are atleast 5 active DMS)...and we are ignored. All i want is to D&D... not to be treated like this

I was going to let the in game insults you sent me via PM the other day fly as a bit of a bad mood.
Not entirely inclined anymore, but then I'm a pretty relaxed guy so I probably will anyway.
We discussed the entire favouritism issue a while back, in great detail, with total transparency, and even a specific example that utterly proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that the claims are simply mis-informed/mis-understood.
I'm also 100% sure that I've sent multiple PMs to people within the group(s) you've been involved with, giving them general advice, and even direct suggestions on methods of creating and expanding fun involving story arcs. I even ran a short NPC interaction (or two) with some of the players involved.
In fact, I just checked my inbox, and not more than a week or two ago, I actually sent you a PM with some ideas, and suggestions for this exact thing, so I'm struggling to understand why you think we only help/talk to/do stuff for/grant the sword of uber to - Certain players. As has been explained, in depth, it's not players who become our favourites, it's characters.
I'm actually still fine with giving advice to any of them, and you, should I be approached with a standard internet level of respect (which honestly isn't asking much) to see if I can help make the server more fun by getting more players involved in the kind of story telling that's worked on the server for around 10 or so years now.
So, my inbox is still as open as it was before you had a bit of a stressful day and posted all of this. Everyone get's frustrated sometimes.

I have been badgering DMs for nigh over 4 weeks now about plot proposals and applications. They have always attempted to give me a moment of their time unless they were busy with work or play. Your point of view is incorrect. DMs do set aside time to help players develop plots and characters, for which I am truely appreciative, though I do not often have an avenue to express it.
Also, I am somewhat acquainted with the people who are setting up that other server, and I strongly believe I act in their best interests by delivering this important message.

To be honest the player-base hasn't been dwindling, it's been increasing. At least since the new metafactions showed up and the south district was opened.
DMs not listening isn't true either. When I started playing nwn/coa I didn't know about the dice-system etc.. but I did read on forum and IRC and so I asked for help besides reading certain topics on IRC. DMs will help but as they got ton to do, one shouldn't rely on them too much when one wants to evolve one's RP, plot and knowledge of mechanics. You can easily ask those things of players, particularly IRC. I'd even say there're players who're more knowledgeable than DMs on certain things and a few who know more in general.
Letting oneself become disappointed since you haven't heard from dm in a few days or they won't allow an app is something we've all been through but dms have a life besides coa. Though I will admit that some players might have a higher chance getting an app through etc., since the dms have known that player for years as dm or player before they became dm. But usually it's because those people are good at making applications and they follow them by doing awesome.
To get disappointed in dms and then putting the blame on the server and the rest is not a way to solve things. Coa is a community and thats why it has survived for so long, not because of dms doing hard work for the players solely.I do believe the player-base can grow much more if some advertising started since there aren't that many games built the way nwn is into DnD if I'm not mistaking too much.
But good luck to you Bob & Co.. though it makes me a bit bitter when we had plenty of rp and intended for more in future -.- -
Really classy =)
-
This is some solid advertising.

This is just sad to see to be honest. NR was a fantastic looking world, and I am sure the work done on it has helped fill out the world even more. True when I played there were not many people on, yet it had that old school dungeon crawl feel to it if you even put forth any effort to find it. To see anyone involved trying to gather players by ranting and raving about the server represented on the forums is just not the smartest idea I have ever seen. I encourage others to at least check the server out in spite of what you have seen here. I'm not affiliated with the team there, but ranting openly about things and obfuscating the truth while doing so is just in poor taste. Surely there could have been a better way to go about it? I'm sure there will be some crossover in the player base of both servers, just as there is with CoA and other servers that currently run.

Ouch - You need to leave the server for a few weeks to help out your Father who is about to under go major surgery - And suddenly your a terrible DM.
I'd be over here sobbing violently over the snark - but I'm a bit to busy worrying about my father.
-
But you ARE a terrible DM, KiY, utterly terrible. You PROMISED me that Vorpal Toothpick. YOU PROMISED!
