What do you do for fun on the server
-
I know it's a weird question but….I'm curious, my character making friends...getting a tiny bit of dm involvement in something but be honest I'm not having fun with it..., thus far..
-
The best thing to do is get involved in a little bit of everything, figure out what you enjoy, and then do that thing with the focus of not only having fun, but improving the fun of others.
Now I could be wrong but I think part of the problem might be that some of your friends aren't online all the time. Which makes things harder for the fun process but it can't be helped much. If that is the case, most of us won't get our feelings hurt if you decide to take a differen path with your character, for fun's sake. It's a game after all. That's what it's all about. ;)

What Petey said.
-
No it's not that…it's something else..
-
Well… can't really tell you what you should be doing for fun. It's really a matter of personal preference.
I can say that there is a certain element of pressure to trying to be a mover and shaker that can be a little off putting to some. It can make you feel like you're not doing things right when you're not actively able to push things in the way you want. It's also a bit nerve wracking because it can make your PC a target; often to people who are more powerful than you are.
Regardless, the point is to figure out what makes you have fun, and other people have fun, and then spend more time doing that.
-
If you are having fun and others are enjoying what you do, then you're doing things right, whether you are moving and shaking or being a minion, or just enjoying some light relief and questing, or hanging out with some mates, or what ever you wish.
We need some characters on the server who are
-
movers and shakers.
-
Minions
-
Long Term Characters
-
Do or Die in a Blaze of Glory
-
Cannon/Quest Fodder
-
Political Animals
-
Archetypical Evil Spymasters
-
Saints
-
Generic Farmers turned adventurers
-
Merchants
-
Fun Lovers
-
Enablers
-
Glory Seekers
-
Bankers
-
Questers
-
…
We really do need allsorts. There is no one "Right" model for your character or how you play. The only goal is to have fun and to enable others to have fun.
-
-
I don't always play CoA but when I do, I like to get my friend Storm Ogrecrush on for some quality roleplay and fun times.
-
I'm not sure trolling is a great response to a player's queary on how to improve their fun on the server.. :/
-
For me biggest fun comes from interaction with other characters.
If your idea of fun is similar, just take a look at player factions on the forums and then check them out IG (Mr. Gentles & Co, Lion's men, Mage guild, various mercenary groups, etc.). Once you've found a group of characters you're having most fun interacting with, you're golden.
Of course i don't imply you should limit your interactions to just one group. Being in such a faction just means that you'll always have what to do on slow days and your fun won't depend on DM attention, etc. -
Change your log in Aiki, and you will have more fun. Wrongly or not, your screen name will only ever be remembered for the creepy maons screen shot. People will either troll or avoid you.
-
What CS said.
and for some other events in V2.
And BG, that was just -mean-.
We've all done stuff we'd rather not have, and regretted it later. -
V2? Are you serious? No player should be perpetually mocked or shunned for shit they did close to 10 years ago. Show some maturity and move on

A sore nerve particularly for you, Wild Card, but I bet you get a lot more fun out of the game since changing your log in, too.
People on the internet are arse holes. Maons is like, legendary. A change of log in would probably have a positive impact on Aikis playing experience.
You can't ask the internet to be mature, Wildcard. Although I do agree with your sentiment.

Not particularly, I barely play now but that is a combination of me being more busy and my actual level of interest rather than the difference in how people treat me. A lot of the times I had the most fun on this server was when I wasn't such a popular person in this community but I kept playing because I loved it otherwise I wouldn't have bothered staying. My former login in isn't exactly a secret anyhow its more like the people who gave me a hard time either got banned for reasons unrelated or left voluntarily.

That's a weird argument. Who wants to roleplay with assholes anyway? I don't feel you're giving a genuine advice here. :?
-
What do you do for fun on the server?
mostly enjoy the little things, like roleplaying before a quest, the quest itself and of course the aftermath.
If you don't have fun playing this recipe then…..........wel.............find another way to enjoy your style, create a sworn nemesis or a best friend who get's himself into trouble all the time and you can save his backside all the time.. you know?
-
It's really hard to answer this question for me. I like questing and i like PvP and i like roleplay…. What i do for fun is i surround myself with people that are fun to play with, then i start having fun and that makes it effortless to create fun for others, be it pvp or pve.
-
Over the last few days, I've come to a pretty nice understanding about what I do for fun. Nothing.
That is to say, normally I'm playing the game and it's a pretty good way to spend my time, but not exactly 'wheeeeee what fun I have' level. And then occasionally, without any planning and usually without any causal relation to what I'm doing, something will pop up.
Whether it's a hilarious bit of RP, a new quest that's surprisingly fun (or goes with a surprisingly low amount of casualties), or something else, most of the fun here is a side effect rather than something carefully scheduled and planned. -
As someone who has played with you on and off a few times through the years, Aiki/Delanish, I feel I can give you some good advice on how to have a better time.
Be more patient. It often seems like you log in, try something, and if you don't get the response you want you get mad. It leaves those that play with you feeling like you aren't having any fun.
Engage in those "boring conversations". I'm not one for sitting around contemplating lifes lessons with my character either, but sometimes in the give and take that makes CoA work you have to play in a way others want to.
And, last but not least-for the love of god, stop going AFK without letting anyone know. That is quite possibly the most annoying thing you can do to the people you are with IG short of griefing.
