Faction recruitment drive

@Kathrine:
On an ooc level, though, I'm horrible with follow through so I tend to want to avoid putting in apps for fear of disappointing people.
Good to see I'm not the only one
You're just shit Ord.
And again DMs are there to help you through goals and stuff once you get approved if you need a little bit of assistance.
And yeah, I'd -love- to see some crazy stuff like Moloch suggested. At the end of the day, and it's been said all the way throught his thread and every other thread:
Speak to a DM about your concept!

Not to mention, there is LOTS for Five Stars to do, while making heaps of money if you pursue that.
Making money in Fivestar is just about the easiest place to be. It is possible to make so much money, you can't think of what to do with it. That Resurection Staff in the Lady's House for 44K is small beer in comparison with what is achieveable.
If you've been a frustrated pauper on CoA, consider Fivestar and play a RICH character for a change.
-
I'm a rich Sembite without being in the Fivestars >.>
Well, rich for a lvl 4 Rogue.
3000 Lyons in hand and 4000 in investments.
-
Guess who's getting mugged when they log in.

That is just not rich by any stretch of the imagination! I was interacting with a player some while ago that was running with 30-40K in hand at any one time running a dodgy outfit funding thieves and informers. I know of folks with double that. Some that bob between level 3 and 5!
Aim higher, son!
-
That hurt, Lamancha; that hurt real bad just now. :(
-
Under 10K is fairly meager.
-
I never had more than 5k in gold at one time…
-
I had 44K once. A DM mugged me with a level 20 NPC, buffed so you couldn't hurt them.
DMs back when I was a player were real jerks. <,< Not like today. >,>

More on topic:
@First:
We're looking to get more characters into just about every faction. There's going to be a few changes coming in the near future that should spring some new life and kick-ass into the factions and outline their goals a bit further, it's a good time to send in your applications and start working towards earning membership IG.
Best thing about the Wizard's Guild while I was trying to become a novice is that the place was so alive. PCs besides, the tower was like a playground with mage duels going on, DM-NPCs running about and all sorts of talk about the nature of magic. It had density; it was a rare occaision that I could walk in there and not find something going on amongst the aspirants or novices. After all one of the biggest reasons I like playing on CoA is the player-interactions, and that place was awash with the stuff.
My point being that faction-perks like loot and storage are one thing, political sway is another, but the one that takes the cake is how much player-interaction is in that faction. PC-mercenary companies, I think, are often so succesful in terms of having a lot of members because people are looking to interact with others, while the semi-static NPCs of factions can be a little daunting, not to mention the idea of doing something because your faction wants it done (even there, the Wizard's Guild is fun because it's far from a united front on the grand majority of matters)

Addndm: I suppose you could say "PC mercenary company" rhymes with "questing clique" but that's not always the case, and certainly after people have meshed in it goes far beyond scripted questing.

Walking around with 10k gold or more is just asking to be mugged/stolen. Greed and power are the most deadly human sins. If a good character finds 50 thousand gold pieces of a fallen body of a teammate, he best well better be making some will saves or something.
I think 5k is plenty to call yourself rich. 1, you can purchase more clothes then some "nobles" in the West district, 2, you have enough money to buy what you want/can get at the time.
-
I lost all my fractions…cuz I can't lead well.....yeah....
-
Still want to enter a faction but Karl does not fit well into many of them.
-
Can anyone think if there are any types of faction that are missing?
-
Pirates.
-
Something more cloak and dagger Cake. Unseen Hand, Harpers, etc.
-
know, not very contructive, but something more badass. Like evil versions of the Green Dragons?
-
Black Dragons?
-
… awesome.
