A DM for a Day???
-
Ok you just won yourself the annual Arabelian deity sweep stacks drawing, You are now more powerful then the gods themselves.
So if you can be a DM for one day, Have all the power and control of a DM What would you do on your day of power?Would you Make a new quest?
How about harass all the little people with a dragon?
Maybe blow up the entire city and bring forth your army of slime covered walking mushrooms with halberds and Cannons!!!!!?
Maybe a new DM faction? So what would you do as The DM for the DAY!!
-
I would run a huge 1 time adventure!!!

Same, probably. One bit server-wide event. Then everybody dies at the end. And the Zhentarim moves in to take over the city.
-
I would do a 24 hour marathon where all I did was bounce around to different players at random and help the environment interact with whatever they were doing. This might include possessing a nearby NPC to seem interested in what they were doing, adding something interesting to be discovered/found on a patrol of the forests, raining on market sitters, or some other interesting set of circumstances.
I would also possess a certain overpowered halfing thief NPC and pickpocket everyone that deems themselves in authority and run through the streets with their pants.
-
TBH I'd pull a Tangent.
-
I would…
Add a ton of new NPC merchants to the module. (Yes, I happen to have several ready to go).
Watch PC's quest for a few hours, occasionally dropping spice and maybe even sliding a plot hook.
Construct a large-scale event that would likely involve a large army of X critters attacking Arabel (probably lizardfolk or maybe wild animals).
Take players aside who are having trouble getting into the server and help them come up with new and interesting goals.
Kick back at the end of the day and read over ULK's cyb0r files with BG. -
in reality, you'd probably deal with a griefer, sort out a pvp issue, get several un-stuck from broken transitions/lagwarps, then just as you finish setting up your quest, the server would crash, and your day would be over.

That sounds eerily accurate.

Spam Insta-kill on all elves.
-
Buff elves to level 30.

@Broken:
Buff elves to level 30.
Then insta-kill them all just out of spite :3
-
Kill you outta spite.
-
End the Legion and Red Hart war

What I do.

I'd find a character I found interesting and delve into their past. Maybe create some NPCs from family/friends, nothing too big or important. Maybe a few letters from home. Something to make character histories come to life.
In reality, I've discovered I suck at DMing and should simply avoid it.

You guys are DMs for a day and you do about a normal day?
Were is the summon forth a hoard of undead chickens to flock into East District and have them swarm freeing the chickens from a cruel fate of being captured by random adventurers all day long.
Or how about an elder red dragon plopping down onto the bazaar just so he can let everyone hear his singing of the elegy of the dragon wars.
-
I'd run 60 minute quests to tie up 24 loose plot threads that never got finished for one reason or another.

Maybe if this were something like Munchkin. I must be too serious

I would visit every area of the server i have never been to just to see whats there.

I find most of the 60 minutes is spend herding players like sheep to the start of my quest designed to close off plots, then, when we actually start the quest, 10% say they have run out of time, 20% go AFK, so to man the shop ;) and others for all sorts of other reasons, 30% go afk waiting for the previous 20% and the remainder loose interest because things have taken too long. I then get dragged off to deal with a stupid PvP trainwreck, argue with some idiot who has been griefing and just doesn't understand that griefing is not just against the rules but bad manners as well, dive off to wand three people for spell failure because they keep spamming the DM channel, get frustrated when my wife returns home and wants to talk to me rather than talk to the wall and…
and, it's 240 stalled plot threads, not 24. Order of magnitude different!
