Anyone else finding the forums wierd?

Adding new skins is pretty easy, IIRC.
-
I think it takes some time to get used to a new skin.
I like how the first one between the skins allows me to navigate to a different topic by hovering the mouse over the path next to the board index.I'd very much welcome a complete copy of the default theme with this functionality implemented. If it is really that easy to make.
-
I’ve found it pretty easy to navigate and fairly clear to read so far, just have a few bits and bobs to sort out but I think it’ll work out fine.
-
I actually hate forum designs that have the user info on the right.
Is there any way to get it on the left?
-
Use Artodia:Black theme.
It has user info on the left.

Sick. Now I'm okay with everything.

Artodia Black is easy on the eyes

Artodia black is MUCH better

+1

One of the reasons we have uploaded a number of skins is because people vary in their needs an tastes.
-
Is there anyway to put peoples names and pictures back on the left side? Sence almost every single forum on the entire internet has it set up that way and not on the ride side. Thats really, really, really annyoing. Thats my only complaint.
-EDIT-
NM, I see my question has been answered! Thanks!
-Second Edit-
I highly suggest the "standard" format the forum is set at be changed to the Artodia: Black theme. I think most people would agree the user info on the left is…well, better. Sence you know, the majority read left to right.

We're sticking with a light theme for the default.
-
Personally, poster/user information on the right hand side feels more natural, for precisely the cited reason: we read English from left to right.
Usability wise, I have immediate access to what's been written without superfluous user information getting in the way of the flow.
Of course that's also open to debate on the basis of taste, which is never easy to quantify.
Thus we're installing new themes, so if you don't like the default, you're free to use something else. -

That is why the main part of a post, the content, should be on the left.
There's a reason every big website that mainly presents text as content has a light background with dark text, so that's what we'll stick with.
It's easier on the eyes by default (without having to switch fonts or letter spacing to be bigger). It also looks more professional, which in turn allows it to blend in when you're reading it at work or wherever. If your personal preference is different that's fine and why we have some themes available. -
This will be different for every one, especially if you're already used to ignoring the left most column, or expect /prefer information to be ordered big-endian (so first scan in the left column for interesting authors/new posts, then actually 'zoom in' on what they wrote on the right). Same with colors, as an old guy I prefer dark background with light letters. Books are just printed the other way around because the ink would run in the letters… One person will call something 'professional', someone else will think 'cheap' etc. You can have a million different preprogrammed theme's and the next guy will want one that's slightly different.. Eventutally you'll get used to anything though..
-
I wasn't saying it is more professional, I was saying it looks more professional.
When you see a random dark site on someone else's computer screen you're less likely to assume it's work related.Same with the left side content, I was saying it's logical to have it there, not that people should prefer it (though they should, and since I prefer it that means it's it is clearly the better option :))
Also "scanning" wise the poster of the post is already in the left side, just above the actual content.

Not a good one that we found, or we'd probably would have picked it.
Most of the decent light themes seem only decent until the pictures finish loading and they turn into a giant turd filled with fake textures and gradients.Hence the current default theme being a mix of a ready made theme, with icons from another theme, and then me changing lots of css and other shit to try and make it something decent.

Just change your skin ErinEsurance, most of them have the avatar on the left.
