More Ideas to Add More Interest

Combine player plots with stuff to find on quests/in the wilds. A really fun reward for players pushing fun interesting plots, that allow players to earn clues about other player's plots and also show that the plots are DM attention worthy. Mol did this for me and Caek a while back when we played Soothsayers peddling a prophecy - a few scraps of the prophecy turned up as quest loot. It was brill.

@Fireside:
Idea I had a while back concerning persistent storage. Have a few persistent chests hidden in the far reaches of the wilds, caves etc, acting as permanent hiding places, that anyone who finds them can use. Advantages are:
- More exploration to find these places.
- PCs can set up treasure hunt style thingies that last over resets.
- Storage for PC factions, with the added fun/risk of having them plundered.
Derp, thats already in game homie.

I like O'louth's idea a lot and I think it definitely make it easier for players to get involved with what's going on in the server and puts less work on the DMs.

A donation chest in the adventurers guildhall. Does not need to be persistant but makes a place to put excess items no one needs.
Currently they are thrown on the floor next to the entrance.

Some way to disguise myself, so I can do eeeevil things and if i get caught, they wont know its me unless they take off my disguise/mask etc.

Bonus items, hidden special items in hard to find places that may trigger special passages or with an item if you find it (contact x dm) that can forward a small plot. Example: John smith explores the upperdark and after killing a queen spider finds a signit ring in the spider stomach the on the description it says ooc contact dm x. The ring the player found belonged to an ex member of an ex cult group and ex cult group try's to find x player so the ring can't backtrack them to the group
I actually love this idea

@Fireside:
Alot of early Kreswell stuff we did was gathering items for rituals etc. This was cool because it gave up direction and stuff to do without a DM. Shopping lists might seem abit lame, but with the right RPers, it can really come alive and give a group a fun focus.
Yeah, that's all good. It's just that when you've got all your items, if you can't actually find a DM for Ritual X then you never get to do Ritual X that you spent all the time getting stuff for.

I do, too.

I miss mining in dangerous areas. I know some folks hated character created stuff, but now it seems the only loot is in dungeons and stores, like WoW.
I miss armor making. Everything is buyable now. Bleh. Market is empty.
There are 100 dif suits of plate armor, enchanted or not, all for sale.
I feel like all the jobs I enjoyed investing time in the game are now gone.
Belrak and I just smashed 5 minable rocks in the kobald caverns (after being asked to mine for rare minerals by CoG's Ruby) and found zilch.

Depending on how much scripting would be involved this may or may not be worth it; whenever a player makes a sending in game have it broadcasted on IRC so it has a chance to attract the attention of those who are not currently in game who may want to join said player's awesome event.

This? EfU do this, it's great. Could just rob it wholesale from them.

There's alot of things you could rob from EfU.
Like their playerbase, which is quite abit.

I'd like to see the ability to modify weapons/armors/helms/clothes be upped a notch. Always cool when you have a fitting outfit for your character.

More Plots that DM's can set up and leave. The King in Yellow ran a great plot that saw people searching all over the server for Caches. They were set up on toolset and you could go out and look for them. It was a server provoking plot that led to some great adventure into unused parts of the server and stemmed rivalry between the factions to track them down.
Also, back pro-active players. It's been said before but reward those making the effort more readily. If the chance of a reward seems higher more players will attempt to be pro-active and make daring characters.

most of efus playerbase is coas on hiatus until summer end
i find the server jump happens most when a favored char dies and they need a change of pace
i tried it over there and just couldnt get into the setting, no fault of theirs just not my liking

Myself and khamals character were on a exploration of the Haunted Halls and got some unsolicited DM attention :). On top of that when we performed an RP burial of a dead character we found on the road I received a tiny exp bonus, which I can only assume came from a DM watching. I feel like little things like this actually make me want to play more just because they are unexpected and reward people for good RP and playing in. Character. I like all of the ideas mentioned, but I feel like the best times I had on this server were in DM assisted but player driven plots; like the pre-devildragon cult wars.

Make the areas smaller, allowering more space for run off quests. This will not only give us more areas to explore during events, while making us run into each other more with the smaller player count. Perhaps once the player base increases again, we could expand again.

Add a gambling item for a laugh like The deck of many things though i think to script that would be to time consuming for the worth of it.
