Get rid of Carniphages

On a more serious note though, that does seem strong. I believe the DM's said it was a bug for them to be spawning on quests and such though?

Still… You know they are out there. Do something IG to fix the problem. If you were wanting them to be toned down a bit I can understand asking OOC. But you want them gone? Do it IC

I've walked into the ruins and ran into a leftover spawn that some others ran from. I entered, changed my camera angle to get a look of the corridor and boom, 3x engative energy burst on my 10 con rogue. Fortunately they were out of spells after that, but they still hit for 7-12 damage, even if the AB isn't all that much. Even if you don't use spells, the bastards can get you just because others leave them there.

Maybe they should 'fade away' after they've been there for a while? if…thats even possible to script. Then fix the script that checks if you have the quest, and it should eliminate the quest problem entirely

Just a thought: replace negative energy burst with anti magic cone or something, sort of like a Nishruu or Hakeshar that "eats" magic. That's the impression I get of their purpose anyways and would stop them becoming outright gankers in the ruins. If that's nothing like what they're meant to be, nevermind.

If there aren't many of them you can all whip out your range weapon and range them down. They have like 20hp and are mostly countered by a single potion of negative energy resistance.
Use all those IE fighters you complain about to block them while not getting hit.
I think they are a really nice touch.
But they just make me nostalgic about magic eaters, which they kinda are.
Actually, a pure barbarian with cleave and a big weapon could brutalize them en masse.

Yes they do! They werent my spawn but they harassed me all the way to the fugue and back!

maybe add an IC warning about carniphages in the ruins. Mage guild could've set up signs to warn people who want to explore the ruins?

They are easily countered, yes.
They give a nice moment of danger to most characters.
I have died to them some times, it hurts, yes, but the server used to be much more dangerous than that, I remember seeking huge gelatinous cubes on the sewers. Seriously.
If you have run into them so many times…. why don't you warn people about them? Cast whatever you want to cast before you enter the ruins or after you leave them.

Only problem I found with them was the dispel they have, meaning your counters are useless.

Once they start hitting, you don't have to worry with the negative energy blasts.
