No Interest in DM Factions?
-
I'm not getting that old, but I sure am getting more and more busy.

The longer you are in a DM faction the more it feels like a Job, and some people like playing that type of role.
However those people also get thier characters killed regularly and then go to a different faction, so when they loose a character in a DM faction no one generally replaces them

I've been wracking my brain for 3 days trying to come up with a concept that would fit in the existing DM factions. I /want/ to be in a DM faction. I like them, generally. Problem for me, right now, is coming up with goals that make the concept feasible for the existing factions.
The last 2 characters I've had were not part of any faction, DM or PC. I found them boring because I did not have a group to interact with

There have been factions that have felt like a job, but I dont see any of them available anymore. Milita, yeah, court of lahl, most definitely. But for the most part, I find that while sometimes attention is overwhelming, it has more to do with how involved with any given plot you are involved with then actually being in a faction with the ones available now. The thing is, the attention makes for a better coa experience in my opinion, and you really only have to focus on what you can feasably do as a player with real life restrictions. Yes, sometimes you can't get to everyone who wants to be involved, but if you come to terms with that its really not that difficult. In other words, you can be a faction member without commiting full time to the game. This has both the negative that yes you will miss certain things, but also the possitive that you will be involved with certain things that some part time players outside a faction would not be privvy too, simply because you are part of the faction. I guess my point after a paragraph long bable without the fish is that the argument that you don't have time to commit to a faction is moot. You simply have to come to terms with the fact that things will happen without you, and you will appreciate the connection when you do have time to play, since your other faction members can keep you in the loop. I hope this made sense, I really enjoyed the wine we were drinking tonight.

Bring back the adventurer's guild IMO. That was the most fun DM faction I've ever been in.
….. Wait. Only DM faction I've ever been in.
So scratch that.

Well, the AG was ended for two reasons. One more important than the other. Ranked in importance is:
1). It plotted against Mergyth Cassiel in such a reckless and heavy handed way that he really smashed its IC presence.
2). The players in it didn't do anything to keep it around, and seemed to view the DMs as the source of all adventure for the Guild, rather than going out seeking it independently. ie: if we weren't running weekly DM quests for it, people didn't stick around in it.

I could see the problem there. I probably was a little guilty of that, even though I left a good bit before it shut down.

Its whole purpose was for King of Yellow to use it as a way to run adventure.

No. No it was not.

yes, Thayan by far was the most awesomest faction. Thier characters actually demanded fear.

I don't think Thayans would work these days, I mean you had the Zhents; with so much stuff you could do with them, noone really took advantage of it.

That's just players not being awesome
