Coffee and cigarettes

Though I'm currently trying to kick the latter habit, I've decided I'd like to make a thread for people to spit out random thoughts with no connection to anything else. A great way to waste time and bounce totally unrelated ideas off of people.
This thread is mostly for people who don't sleep well due to various…issues, like myself.
My random thoughts:
I wish they'd make pills stronger than the blue pill (PM medicine) that wasn't prescription for putting me to sleep.
Why doesn't my hair agree with hats?

Meh, kicking cigs is for quitters
-
I beg to differ. I've quit 436 times over the past five years.
-
I smoke black and milds once and a while….oh and hookah
-
I just started buying the cheap stuff. I'm just feeding my addiction right now. There is no love or flavor :<
-
People smoking make me cough blood. For real.

Sounds familiar. I'm currently in the middle of a relapse after 2 months clean.

I'm in the uk and with the prices getting higher and higher my goverment is forcing quitting on me

hate to have to say it, but this is why they are doing it…

That makes a good arguement for quitting

Same. I like smoking cloves. Mostly because of the smell and taste, though. I barley inhale. And that awesome occasional cigar. Cancer is fun!

Let me guess. . the left one is from a healthy 18 year old who got in a wreck. .the right is an 80 year old set of lungs after 6 decades of abuse. Yeah, I've seen them -all- before.

Cancer is SOOO not fun

My brother had lung cancer. Funny thing is, he doesn't smoke, and doesn't hang around it. Where as those of us in my family who do smoke have never had a touch of it.
That aside, I have found a -great- way to quit for those of you who might like to kick the habit to the curb and save a few bucks.
Awesome Vapor, or eGo's. Great little e-cigs that actually work well. I've been using these little devices for 2 months now, and they work -great-, except when you're drinking a beer. I don't drink to get drunk anymore, but even with one or two beers, nothing replaces a nice cig.
-
Btw, take it from someone who's seen a lot of those. The lungs on the right were from a smoker who was certainly smoking for over 3 decades. Naturally your lungs to try to expel the tar and you cough -most- of it up for the first decade.
On top of all that, the person who had those lungs clearly had emphysema. The only illness -garranteed- to occur if you smoke for that long. Cancer really is a wild card…It has several factors. A major one is actually genetics.
For instance, the only person in my family who had lung cancer was my brother, but it didn't start as lung cancer. It was small cell cancer that spread from his skin to his lungs. He is the -only- instance of cancer in my family, and there are quite a few smokers amongst my extended family, including my grandfather.
Unfortunately for my grandfather, he does have emphysema and has been dying of it for the last 10 years. A slow, painful way to drown. He has to drive his car to the end of his driveway now just to pick up his mail because he runs out of breath.

That sounds like malignant melanoma. Nasty stuff
Also, a good quit aid is a drug called chantix. My mother used it to quit, and she had had a really hard time quitting every time before.
-
I knew an old woman who was a complete health nut. She went as far as to measure her 3 meals a day by the -calorie-! She would get the perfect amount of exorcise and the 100% of her vitamins and all that blaw every single day! She owned a herbal store or whatever that sold nice smelling teas. She died at 50. . cancer. Just goes to show ya. . nothing in life is guaranteed or certain but death. No matter how you live.
-
I quit last December. I used Chantix for a month, but I started feeling really weird and stopped taking it. I think what really helped was being trapped by the December 18 blizzard.
-
There are a few issues with the side effects of Chantix, paranoia and depression are not uncommon side effects from my experience. Obviously there is a risk vs benefit thing in any drug use.

I had smoking dreams. No shit.
I would dream that I was smoking and wake up feeling as though I had screwed up and started again. Then I'd get panicked and anxious (and feel guilty) for screwing up.
But … It did help me get through that first month in the sense that I thought there would be no point to smoking. That first month is a bitch, and I doubt I'd still be smoke-free if I hadn't taken it.
