Assassination tips.

There is also a little something I like to call OOC Consideration that is an intergal part of CoA. Especially pvp ending in FD

Generally, allow me to add two cents about killing, etc. etc.
Killing is ABSOLUTELY LAST THING you should considerate. Especially if you're playing a good guy, sadly, but also if you're play an "epic"evil. And I don't just mean killing. If you're trying to arrest someone to execute him - you are killing him. If you send an assassin after him - you are killing him. The fact that you don't do it yourself, doesn't clean your hands.
I'm gonna use a well known example here - the dynamics of Batman and Joker. They're both the exactly oposite sides of the coin - Lawful Good and Chaotic Evil. They both however know, they need each other to exist - becouse Joker is a shadow, and Batman is light. Without light, there's no shadow, and without shadows and darkness, we cannot apperciate light.
When you take this into consideration, you understand why killing should be rare - becouse (especially for good characters), if you kill someone - you're breaking your final rule. The rule not to kill a living being. Of course - in theory, you are killing hundreds of monsters daily, so there's no real diffrence, right? WRONG. Stormtroopers in Star Wars are dying in hundreds. But when Darth Vader confronts Luke, he does not kill him - he chops off his hand, and tries to lure him into the Dark Side.
Also, as noted before - OOC Consideration. We all want to have fun here, and if to be honest- VERY rarely a death of a character is fun. In fact - if you're gonna gloat and torture the character before doing so, it's only gonna make it worse. Especially if you gank that character to archieve so. If you kill someone - you're sending a message "game's over, action begins". Expect someone else to take their gloves off as well. Simple's that. As petey123 once told me - when you try to kill someone in PvP, you're a walking time bomb.

A lot of metaphors after the same idea, but yeah. "Murderer" isn't a concept exactly; I had a past character I would consider a "murderer" but it's more due to him lacking the moral-fibre to see anything wrong with killing someone to get what he wants, even if it's usually not necessary and so he doesn't do it.
Certainly, if you've got a level head and are considerate about it, you could make an assassin who's feared ICly but loved OOCly. Just don't fall into the trap of killing characters to prove a point, or things will get very messy, very fast, and suddenly roleplay will count for nought compared to AC, AB, levels+loot.

Lots of good points so not much to add just this.
If you are playing an assasin you have to use FullDeath if you just make a few threats and beatings then you arn't playing a hired killer your just a thug.
All the points about rping with the victim is done before the hit not during!
Assasins are just tools for somone else they are doing a job for money and as such they treat it as a job and kill the targets in the easyest way,now if you want to do the bad guy monologue go for it just keep it very short and to the point then leave the area before all the victims allies come looking for them as they have been missing for 10 mins…. -
About the fact that all RP should be done by the client and well before the assassination - True. But just because you are "a tool", doesn't mean that it somehow absolves you from your sins. You should still make sure that the attack adds to the RP, instead of removing from it. People usually want someone dead because it's easier to accomplish than, say, threatening them to stay out of your business.
Playing more of an "avenger" than "assassin", you could create innovative rules for yourself. Like, "only kill those that deserve it". If you feel someone wants to kill a character just because they have a piece of loot (plot or not), you could try and convice them to hire you for an attack instead.
Point is - Even if you are hired to do a killing, the death is always your own choice. Killing someone is -a serious- thing, and -always- the LAST option.
EDIT: There isn't that big of a market for assassinations.

I've been advertising assassinations for ages now and I think I've only had one taker!

Think out of the box!
Start sending threats to someone. i.e. get paid not to do your job.
If you are good enough you should get coins out of it, if not there is your chance to assassinate someone!

Paid assassinations and'' knocking people off'' are two very different things
The second option has been fine, but as Tomppa said there seems not to be a large market for a paid ''hit'' so to speak

Maybe it's a sign that things are calm enough on the server that people don't think the best way to resolve an IC dispute is to kill the other guy? Then again, it usually only takes a few rough PvP encounters to get the ball rolling and people bidding for any help they can get to come out on top.

I think people just remembered the pot helm and hold wand and just do it themselves.

Or specific assassins have made silly choices that upset potential employers. Making oneself hirable and trustworthy to actually carry out a job of such magnitude is a fairly important thing too.
