In these uncertain economic times diversify your investments. Buy Mithril! The precious metal that goes up in value. Not down.

That's the sound of security! Thats the Sound of MITHRIL!!!

WAFFLES. INVEST ALL OF IT INTO WAFFLES!!!!

If I’m set on buying something tangible with my money I typically invest in consumables ~ Wands, potions, bloodstones. However normally I prefer to spin the wheels of plots by reinvesting my capital in hiring players to perform certain roles for me and otherwise support plotting ~ devious, devious plotting.

I always used what gold Eliphas got for either wands/potions, or to give it as rewards for those who helped him, or made attuned gems for them.

Pay people to do stuff you cant do yourself.
Offer gold for people to come along on your adventure to find the magical rod of ultimate poking.
It's much easier to get players involved in stuff with lots of gold. Dont just spend it all on insane loot. If your a loot monkey this might help, you'll get much better stuff by involving people in adventure and intrigue than you can buy anywhere, from anyone.
-
Wait you people get 8K in gold? Not even remotely possible. Best I've ever saved is 3K.

Seconded. But with a wand-making ability, there is a lot you can do with 3000 gold, and a CMW wand, or even a CLW wand, can make a marvelous bri… uuuh, incentive.

Forge an armor out of melted down gold coins

Horde it until I has many times that!
I really get depressed if I look at my gold pool and its less than my 'standard', so I really don't buy consumables or.. anything, really, as much as I should.
On one particular character I feel poor if I'm below 5k, which I know is stupid.. And I never really do much else with my coin except throw it at plot potential. Sadly, it never seems to work. Everyone I pay vanishes! :(
-
I'm sorry :(
Anyway! If my character has 5k I feel moderatly rich. Below 2k and it's not that good. Below 1k and I feel poor. My characters these days usually walk around with 3-6k, on average.
-
Something like that. Most I've ever had was 18k (Don't worry, I don't have that anymore!) but I can't imagine how one person afforded a armor for 30 000 gold before. Someone must have supported him!
-
Thomas Wright was well on his way to 50k before I retired him.
Like.. Early 40k, 43, maybe.
[/brag]
-
…wow.
At most I've ever had 10k and that was me holding it for someone. . .
I average sub 1k usually. It all goes to consumables for party members or maybe an outfit now and then. Guess I'm on the 'poverty' side of things. lol

Vrugor had 15500 at one point.
