Case file: Stormhorn Skirmish
-
To put none too fine a point on it, the Greywatch is more liable to kill -- punish, excuse me -- a criminal in someone else's custody than the House of the Morning or the Precept. The fact you didn't take them into custody at all is what has me questioning your reasoning and denying your addled demand to remove the bounty.
So far all you're trying to satisfy is your own ego, rather than fulfilling the law.
-Councilor Grurec, son of Torunden
-
I hope you didn't take coin from them Bryce, without turning them over to the Palace.
Because that'd be a bribe.
-Blood Dragon, Naresh Sabzvari
-
Bryce, your putting up a public notice saying the bounty stands or I'm going to surgest we start a corrruption investigation into yourself over this.
Soppi of the Redwood
-
If you don't want them dead then bring them in alive and still breathing simple as that. You are not above the law or in a position to interpret the law for yourself. I will pray for you.
Dawnlord Jadzia Sunguard
-
Time is ticking Bryce. You have 18 hours from this note to publicly explain your incompetence and explain that the bounty is still live or I'm going to publicly explain your corruption and explain that the bounty is still live.
Soppi of the Redwood

Although the Greywatch are by no means above the law, one cannot ignore their results regarding punishment. The same people who wished to execute a sorceress are now defending another after exacting punishment. This should show their quality, although I do agree the circumstances are suspicious indeed. One does not condemn their allies on suspicion alone.
-Clerk Johnson
-
Let us look at the charges you levied against them logically, You will see only assualt is valid.
Treason: Not valid, They have not attempted to usurp the King or Queen or act against their rule, They at one time gave themselves stupid titles which may have been impersonating authority but stopped when requested.
Attempted Murder: Not valid, They defeated members of the Precept, Dawnlord Jazdia and Mistaris cohort, If murder was their goal they had opportunity to kill but didn't take it
Necromancy: Not valid, No reports or proof exists of them animating the dead
Worship of the Indecent: Not valid, No proof of them serving abberants,
Religious Crimes: Not valid, No proof they attacked due to religion
Bryce

They have left signs saying as much Bryce, or have you been ignoring the proclamations they made on the roads? Or is the authority given to Eveningstar by the court invalid in the eyes of the Greywatch? They have named the Dawnknights, False followers of Lathander and proclaimed to leave them blind if they were found on the roads.
As for defeating a Precept, none were brought down in the skirmish, we chased them off after restraining Boom & Bewm, it could be said we interrupted whatever was about to occur.
And on the topic of the Sorcerer, he wanted it handled by the court, yet now vehemently opposes it. If you wanted to lay out a plan for suspicion you couldn't have done better Bryce.
-Blood Dragon, Naresh Sabzvari
-
Can you show us these signs that say they are treasonous, worship indecent beings, animate the dead, and prove the attack was based on religion?
With that, the Greywatch will have no argument left. Should be easy to resolve then.
-A Clerk
-
Do they need to? Can't the council just unilaterally put bounties on people for whatever they want?
-Clerk Pinwell.

We have enough rumor, hearsay and suspecions to know there up to dangrous and criminal acts.
Three of there membership been excuted or exciled for capital crimes.
Two cofirmed beholder cultists
One case of vampire blood drinking.
Suspecious activity in the Hullack around the Slaad seal.
Rumors of Jack walking by undead unharmed
Making up a green dragon in the Hullack
Rumors of being Ravens.
A strange fixtation on wanting a Dawnlord dead.
There bad news, tricksters and it's clear Jack a power hungry mage that doesn't care about the conquences of his actions. There attempted murder of Jadzia is just the excuse we need to finally shut them down for good with something clean cut.
Course we know the only reason why Bryce is arguing otherwise, is that he's hooping they murder Jadzia for him.
My poster goes up in less than a hour.

You imbecilic druid.
I don't want them to murder the dawnlord and I distinctly remember you putting up posters threatening her harm for the celestial summoning.
As for being suspected Ravens well we know Marcus is one and the Precept work with him.
Perhaps you should investigate Naresh if that is your argument.
Bryce
-
Me and Jadazia came to a understanding over words, you never did.
Tick tock.
I'm writing the poster.
Soppi
-
I think you'll find we did come to an agreement.
You were in the palace after she spoke with Lady Summerstar remember.
Should you insist on writing slanderous posters on the Greywatch because we will not give in to your demands you will be punished.
Bryce
-
Oh I see. The druid has heard rumours, did they get whispered in your ear by forest spirits?
If so, we should of course immediately arrest and execute people based on such enthralling evidence of wrong doing.
I also heard of the time we executed someone because Clerk Pinwell heard he was a murderer in the Faceless Inn over a drinking game.-A Clerk.
-
You should have more trust in the words of our councillors clerk.
-Clerk Pinwell.

We get to the bottom of this matter.

The Herald of Arabel's Court has requested a summary of the evidence against the Scarlet Cult. As well as a written statement from the Greywatch on how they conducted their investigation.

I assume by now that most of us have read Jacks reply to my inquires and how he claims his motive was 'to steal her shoes'. I for one find the idea that this was his core motive quite laughable, but lets run through the possible motives logically.
He really was just planning to beat her up and take her shoes.... a man who claims to care a great deal about his image wouldn't be dumb enough to just randomly rob a Dawnlord on the Council of Twelve and expect there to be no serous negative consequence to it, so this seems unlikely.
He was planning to rob her of her shoes and then murder all witnesses.... now this makes more sense, it would also mean this case should be treated as mass attempted murder and robbery.
He was planning to beat her up to gain standing or payment with someone who also promised they magic away all the legal consequence …. I think my thought process on the whom here is quite transparent. Sure Jack image takes a hit for doing this , but perhaps his gain with the briber is something he considers worth the trade?
He wanted her dead out of a sense of revenge... she was one of the persons who brought down Boravar and Jax, the very confirmed scarlet aberrant cultists, so trying to kill her for revenge is quite logical, regardless if he's a cultist himself or not. In any case, it's attempted murder.
This was really a Raven backed assassination attempt... we had adventures claiming the Scarlets are on the Raven payroll, but nothing solid. Course if we have a chance to look through there things for Raven materials (which judging from the lack of a report, the Greywatch didn't think of) and found them I would consider this rather likely, but without proof there Raven's its hard to push as an idea.
Someone or something wants Jadzia dead, injured or robbed for mystic purposes … fallen paladin, active Dawnlord and summoner of angels are all special labels that can make someone's death, injury or items the subject of prophecy or other mystic cow droppings. Unfortunately the number of candidate for such is pretty huge, but this could be a motive and complication even if it's currently a very vague 'maybe?', but you know it possible there aberration cultists or Jacks made a secret deal with that Emerald King demon I keep hearing about.
Also something else I keep thinking about is that Talia also tried to murder Jadzia recently and she was one of Jacks former minions / spy in the Astar Order. Part of me suspects there's a link, but I don't really know much about her case or activities in the Astar past what in here. Can we have some investigation and details here?
Similarly I'm really curious about Jadzia footwear in the light of Jacks interest, anything special about them?
Anyway, anyone else got any thoughts on these or got an angle I missed?

The man's application to join the Council of Twelve was rejected, however that was some time ago.
