Summon Spider Theme
-
I've been using both the Summon Themes for Spiders and for Vermin.
I think they're both cool and look great. However, outside of a few niche things, the vermin theme just feel strictly better. It does what the spiders do, which is have on-hit poison/disease, but with the added benefit of more ac, attack, and hp.
I'm not entirely sure what can be done to make these feel unique from one another seeing as they're both like, centered around bugs.
The only other thing is the circle 3 summon spider, the Brood Spitter. It's a level 7 creature with 3 of them being ranger. It has favored enemy Goblin. It does 1d3+2 damage with it's unarmed attack. And has no other noticeable features. It did not cast any spells or "spit" anything as it name would suggest. I think this is just an oversight and the creature needs to be changed/updated.

I keep meaning to update the Brood Spitter...

I imagine the idea with the spiders is that while not as upfront strong, they make up for it with little abilities/ranged attack/etc.

Not all themes are created equally. Some serve a niche purpose.
That said, all the summon themes are getting a makeover, but it is a slow and tedious process. -
