Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition.

sounds like the game's going to be 100% worth the money.
-
I would be ok with AronFF's spam methods if it fixed the terrible merchant system!
Honestly though.... there's so many things that'd be amazing to fix, that... I can't even think where to start.

Will someone who viewed the stream get us a summary (bullet points are great) of what this EE contains, how is it different (better?) than what we have now, and what this will mean for the last 6 months of building for v6 (will we have to start over?) ?
-
There's a store page for it popped up on Steam. Says there is Multiplayer in the description and says it comes with Aurora toolset and DM client!

Only watched part of the stream but here are a few important points I heard.
- The game will be made to work seamlessly with 64 bit systems, multicore cpu's and modern rigs in general, as well as modern operating systems without having compatibility issues.
- The enhanced edition will have similar graphics to the old nwn, but its design will allow it to support graphical updates via community made haks or upcoming content they might bring out in the future of a much higher quality than previously. (Think nwn with a graphic update hak that makes the game look like a PS4 game).
- Enhanced edition will allow for 1080p and 4k resolution for your screen, text and buttons and whatnot will scale properly into those resolutions, as well as other weird video buffering and shader options I don't understand much about that nwn didn't have but will now which will make the lighting and textures smoother and clip less.
- The DM client will have a search bar, allowing you to actually search through the creatures or items for something specific (like orcs, or orc related gear)
- Server hosting will be much less limited, in that you can have a much bigger module without it lagging everything up, they're also taking a look at how dialog boxes worked for nwn servers to make them less laggy.
- The multiplayer server lists will actually be populated when you look at it, much in the way they were in the past when we had Gamespy (meaning new players will be able to find your server).
-
While my initial impression is that our module / areas will be largely intact, we can add several enhancements that were technically very difficult previously (this might delay the release, or it can happen concurrently as they are not dealbreakers)
More concerning is (if true) NwnX is being made native to the toolset. Which is good news given the extreme usefulness of NwNX, but it also means we might have to scrap our current nwnx struts and rebuild using their native functions, as EE might not support the link to external nwnx like vanilla does.
This means all our scripts dependent on nwnx will need to be rewritten. And there are hundreds of them.
It might not be that bad, of course. No way to tell if EE supports external NWNX. If it does, then we'll have no issues, and we can re-write the scripts slowly while phasing out our dependency on external compilers.

To be fair, V6 was intended to be a rebuild of coa anyway, the scope of it would just change.
And if it revitalizes the entire game, it's certainly worth it.
-
No way?
Perhaps the link to the forums where DMs were invited for a talk can provide an answer. I wish I was competent enough to ask. -
there are some pretty major changes listed there with regards to multiplayer.
Can this be supported in a way that both old editions and enchanted editions could play on the same server?
I guess not...Will I have to rebuy? :(
-
i am not worried about having to buy the new game but about how much of coa will need rebuilding to place it in the new version, the potential to gain new players and new ideas would be amazing though
-
Well I am happy to buy this game and play CoA on it. I will not be buying this game unless it's for CoA. I will also continue to play CoA as is. For me CoA=NwN.

We are, of course, discussing this right now :)
-
what's the difference between standard and deluxe looking at getting it.
-
Sounds to me like the tradeoff is, pushing back V6 for a bit, vs the server no longer slowly declining in player population at a trickling yet inevitable rate.
-
Deluxe has Wyvern Crown of Cormyr, Infinite Dungeons, Another premium mod which I forget and the Soundtracks.
As for time added to V6 I don't think it should take too long. Apparently Arelith has been mostly converted to work with EE

looks like I need to suck up to my wife. good thing my birthday is on Saturday woot woot. I am thinking getting straight from beamdog. does it make a difference whether it's beamdog or steam?
-
Nope.
You can request a steam key when it goes onto Steam
-

Just had to take a peek in. I think I'll do some streaming of this on Monday - if anyone is interested I could post a link to the Time and Date.
