A Note on OOC Knowledge
-
Guys, as some of you know, we are using some canon elements as part of a plot. We're trying very hard to make it as mysterious and occult as it deserves to be. Many of you familiar with FR will look at it and instantly associate it with what you know to exist in the canonical setting.
It is quite exhausting trying to deal with these case-by-case so I'm making an announcement instead – because it's still happening.
Try and curb your knowledge as a person of the setting and treat what you see IG as that. Canon events, people, items etc. are great fun, but discouraging to include in our setting when people insist on spoiling them OOC. We had the same problem with people openly discussing things like Shadow Magic in the past which aren't even in our module.
Go out of your way a little and help maintain a bit of mystery.
Is that an Ur Priest or just some heretic?
Can the Wand of Orcus really do everything FR Wiki says it can do or is it just insanely dangerous and op?
And what is Hellfire anyway? -
The thing is, you'll probably just look stupid/insane anyway, as we intentionally edit things so that people can't metagame it using sourcebooks. So unless your character actually is insane/stupid, don't so it, or they will end up being called it by powerful NPCs, at the very least.
