Sorcerer Themes
-
Howdy folks.
Guess where the nerf training must go and soon. The existing themes are entirely unbalanced and allow a sorcerer to really dominate in pvp and pvm. Additionally, these are being used not as themes (IE: I'm a shadow mage, I only cast spells of darkness and fear and shadow) but as ways to eke out advantage (I'm going to use the best SHADOW MAGIC buffs and then use lots of lightning spells for their power and be all around the best caster build possible).
That isn't what these themes and kits are really about. The DMs goals were to give players more variety in builds and spells and roles in adventuring parties with all of our recent class changes. Kits and themes should be comparable to other builds/strategies, not clearly superior in all ways.
So we'd love two things to be PM'ed to me.
1). Balance and spell suggestions for the existing OP themes, maybe point us at PnP concepts we can balance against or steal from.
2). Ideas for new themes, maybe point us at PnP concepts we can balance against or steal from.

As our transition to better (and more varied) sorcerer themes progresses, we're disabling theme selection for now.
Existing theme players will not be affected.

Shadowcaster and Pyromancer will be going in now. The current shadow adept spells will be disabled, and existing shadowcasters can contact a DM to drop / regain a single level, so the new theme spells can be selected. The shadow adept spells provided in the custom list will no longer function post reset.
When lumomancy has been overhauled / changed to an equivalent, the old theme spell selection slots will no be required, and dialog.tlk and the overriden spells.2da can be removed from your folders, so you don't have unnecessary icons cluttering up your spell selection list. We will also provide a default dialog.tlk override in case you are unsure how to do this.
