"Look I'm a Farmer" and Hedge Magic & Explorat
-
Hi all.
I'm going to be frank, blunt, and perhaps a little rude possibly because I'm very disappointed that some people are ruining the fun for other players on CoA. Here's what they're doing–and here's why I--and all of you should be frustrated with these players.
We added Hedge Magic, so players could go out in groups and adventure and intrigue to find these rare materials in dangerous (but not too dangerous so that groups can't reach them) locations.
Some players, playing powerful characters figured out where those areas are and run to them every reset to grab the materials (and also never pointed out that their was a bug causing them to respawn every reset even when it should have been obvious that these should be rare spawns--but maybe they never thought about that).
They'd run out alone, often invisible to get these items (metagaming obviously that this is a safe thing to do).
We also added some areas, like the Haunted Halls and the Middle Dark, where every reset random areas appear to explore and search--and tend to have random treasures you can find too if you go to explore with a group.
But wait!
These same players rush to these areas every reset too, alone and invisible or in stealth again, to loot these areas too. So when someone arrives with a group to explore they find (you guessed it) an empty dungeon.
This is really, really pathetic. I'm incredibly disappointed with the players doing this, who should know better than to run off alone to loot and metagame every reset and abuse a system specifically put in to make things fun for groups of players.
I'm going to be contacting those of you who've I've heard are doing this and tell you very directly to stop. My displeasure is high enough to want to give out some verbal thrashings. You're ruining the experience of CoA for others. Stop.
Its one thing to go out alone and explore now and then when you can't find people to interact with--blatantly metagaming that you can survive these areas alone, while stealing treasure you know comes back every reset, while trying to advance plots ALONE involving Hedge Magic is all really damn lame. Go play Dragon Age if you want to solve plots alone and be the main hero every time. If you want to play CoA, learn to play cooperatively with others.

I've seen this happen a few times lately.
If you're metagaming unrepresented dangerous monsters in order to loot places that spawn hedge magic stuff alone I will not be happy.

Again.
Hedge magic reagents are a mean to reward those players that gather groups and take them "out there" exploring. When a DM is not logged there is usually less reason to bring a group to explore because there is no tangible way to show progress in whatever the exploration is trying to accomplish. That is why we introduced hedge magic. Going to where you know reagents will spawn, invisible and alone, is unfair, inconsiderate and selfish.
