Misa's proposition
-
Good morning my Dawnbrothers and Dawnsisters,
Today I write to you on the eve of these turbulent times do convey and discuss a meeting I had with one of our own native born residents, Misa Leonalloud. Misa is a well established merchant and famed smith throughout the kingdom of Arabel. She has supplied her skills and tools to the cause of many noble adventurers, and is capable of working with Mithril.
Misa came to me to explain and get off her chest, concerns pertaining to this war with Tilverton. She spoke sincerely, and with great love in her heart. While she, like most others, wish to stay away from war as much as possible, she also wishes to protect her friends and family. To this end, she is willing to offer her skills to us exclusively, but has a few conditions that I negotiated upon with her. She does not wish for fame nor coin, but only the well being and betterment of the people of Eveningstar. The deal is as follows...
Misa is willing to offer and equip Eveningstar's forces with Mithril arms and armor, as well as a supplement of enchanted items. In exchange for these services, the Order of the Aster will conduct peaceful negotiations with the Church of Chauntea and it's prominent group of priests within the Kingdom of Arabel by:
- Convince the Chauntea priestesses to protect and bless the farmlands of Eveningstar and it's people.
- Erect a shrine to Chauntea within Eveningstar's boarders. The redeemed farmers that we have rescued will become the tenders to this Shrine.
- Share Lathander's bounty with the Church of Chauntea. We will offer them a relic(perhaps from the ones we are preparing to go obtain) as payment for their services and as a show of good faith to the working prosperity between the two gods.
- Eveningstar will take a firm stance and condemn the religion of Talona, forbidding her worshipers access to our lands.
- No armed forces of the Chauntean faith will be permitted inside the village to act as guards.
Misa seemed alright with these terms, but I eagerly await to hear your opinions and ideas if you think anything should be changed or altered.

Stipulate that no armed forces of the Chauntean faith will be permitted in the village as stationed 'guards.'

Perhaps we could offer up a place amongst the Aster, for any holy men and women of Chauntea, as a way to find a middleground between what she desires, and our desire to not have foreign armed forces outside of our command.-Stillwater

As long as Eveningstar stands underneath the rule of the Church, we will permit no freedom of worship.
However, subordinate faiths who desire to see the village protected can perhaps join in an Auxiliary Fashion.
I will discuss it with his Holiness.

That was my thought as Well Sir. Soldiers of other faiths can never reach the skill and devotion, necessary for making an Aster. We must never water down our Order. But something to unite the lost sheep under our banner, throw in something that smells knightly, and we shall boost our numbers beyond what we currently can muster.
They cannot all have your moustache or my smile, after all. Nor Arguns muscular arms. But that does not mean they cannot be of use with the right help and guidance.

My brethren,
It is enough to permit quiet, internal prayer amongst the farmfolk who till the fields to Chauntea. However, once we introduce the notion of other faiths being allowed in our humble Bishopric, we invite the exchange of ideas to pollute the consciousness of our layfolk and may give rise to heresies, perverted from the true scriptures as handed down by the forebears of our temple and faith.
No shrine will be allowed without a great act, and as far as I can tell, Misa is the greatest critic of our righteous march on the Ravens of Tilverton. While she offers to arm our layfolk with mithril arms- such weapons are- unfortunately, of to great value for the simple folk they would arm. Such folk might begin to question their masters and seek to better their lives at the expense of good order, and in their ignorance, cause harm and havoc for all. To remove such weapons once bestowed, also, may invite great resentment- for the value of such weapons well-made is enough to change the fortunes of the person who holds it- and while it is good to aspire to great heights, we have need of these hands to return to fields once the conflict is over- and such wealth will invite them to leave their place for the city. Our population is not so robust as to invite this.
I may of course, be convinced to change my mind, if she swears to cease being a merchant of death and labor solely for the benefit of Eveningstar and her subjects, and no longer sell her crafted arms and armor to any but those who swear their loyalty to us, on top of these additional offerings- for our knights and squires.

I was able to have a meeting earlier with Misa, along with Dawnsquires Evelyn and Theron joining in at the later parts of it. I brought these ideas to Misa and she seems to agree with all of them, though I did raise the High Bishop's concerns. Understandably, Misa also had her own concerns and would like to expand on this proposition even further.
Most of Misa's cliental are from the Adventuring population and outsourced to other areas, and her trading company as a whole has other crafters. Most of them however want to remain neutral in the conflict between Eveningstar and Tilverton. Understandably, people try to stay away from war as much they can. Misa is willing to accept the terms stated above, but in exchange for becoming exclusive to Eveningstar, she wishes to have a guild house set up for her here. Seeing as the High Bishop shared concerns over the distribution of Misa's more valuable items among the populace, this would give Eveningstar some semblance of control over who gets what. She wanted to make it clear that she nor her guild members were interested in becoming serfs of Eveningstar, however while they operate within Eveningstar's boarders they will be subject to Eveningstar's laws. She understands that if this agreement is to be breached in some way that she will be responsible for the consequences and making amends.
Your thoughts?
