Let us know what you're doing

When you know a DM is around, either spicing up a scripted quests or running one of their own, don't fall into the trap of assuming we're watching the group the entire time. We may have gone off to spawn some npcs, set up a room with some placeables, or any other number of things. For this reason it is important that you keep us informed on what you're going to do. A simple message on /dm channel, such as "/dm We're going to attack the giant and try to kill him before he eats the hostage." is fine.
Or, say you're going to storm up some stairs invisbile and try to rescue a hostage. The DM-Client does not have any visual indicaton that a character is invisible or not(DMs have truesight). So a message such as "/dm We go invisible in preperation of sneaking up the stairs and rescuing the hostage." will be very helpfull. Otherwise you just look like a lot of fighters in full plate charging up some stairs like bafoons.
Phrase it as what you're going to do, though. Questions such as, "If I do X will it cause Y?" "Would this work?" "Is it alright if I do X?" arn't very useful. Just let us know you're doing it and see what happens. These types of quesions will ussually get an answer along the lines of "Do it and see." If they get any answer at all.

If you have been banned/exiled from an area, and want to move inside. Please send a message in the DM chat about what you doing, cause otherwise a DM will see your character just walk into the guarded areas ignoring all the NPCs. -Always- inform DMs that you are entering an restricted area for your character, preferably with a DM around but we are aware that this is not always possible.
Please also read the original post, inform DMs what you are doing and see what happens! Don't ask if it would work, or just roll random skill checks in the air. If a DM wants to you roll a dice, we will let you know. We are only humans, and it is very helpful when you let us know what you are doing.
