Shards Online new kickstarter

This could be the next NWN if it gets funded, looks like it has pretty much everything we could want in a spiritual successor. -
I want to believe it's going to be amazing.
Even if it's so different. -
As awesome as it looks it'll need to have a big playerbase in order to succeed nwn, here's hoping.
-
Brought up custom rulesets such as D&D and one of the devs told me that it is feasible though it would take work but they are allowing customization to that extent.
-
Good news! This officially made its kickstarter goal as of last night so it looks like there is real hope on the horizon for a NWN successor. Additionally they have several stretch goals which are things which will be included in the first alpha if they are met, so there is still plenty of time to grab a key if you want one as there are 24 days left. The more people we have participating from the NWN community the better

Two new videos demonstrating both modding and scripting. I don't know if this looks easier than NWN was not being very savy with toolsetting or scripting so if someone who does could interpret based on the footage seen in these two videos. -
from a brief look:
More complicated.
Vastly more powerful, way less limitations.
Seems pretty intuitive so far. -
I think Zool likes
-
Ugh, no offence but for a spiritual successor to nwn, the graphics seem cheaper and more clunky than nwn's. I hope that's temporary?
-
Yes it is a pre alpha build and devs have stated graphics will get better in time. Not to mention because we can import custom assets that you have created you could make the game much better. And Drip: Lets hope Zool buys himself a pre alpha admin acess.
-
Neat, cause I watched that how to make a turkey shoot module thing video and when I saw the PC fighting that turkey, it looked…..yeah.....
-
There is another thing to consider; Shards Online will let users to implement custom content into their modules. Because Shards Online is made with UNITY this means that things purchased from the Asset store could be -potentially- included in one's Shard take this for example;https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/7101
It would be like Haks for NWN except better. It depends which version of UNITY shards is using though -
Your actually understating it by mentioning haks, as haks used specific file formats and ridiculous conventions to utilise, whereas shards could import anything you can import into unity engine, which includes almost every 'standard' resource type imaginable.
But no, I wont be buying this thing, the sheer amount of work it would take to make 'CoA' on this is beyond imagination.
-
True, someone might try though
-
We should make a Zool fund-raiser. :D
Or just stick to CoA as he already owns NWN.
Ah, and I have no problem with the graphics. Granted, it isn't pretty. But I don't care. It's good enough.
If I can play the same way in NWN, so I can RP through text, I'll be happy with it. -
Looks quite promising.

Promising news when it comes to managing scripts. A DM from Tales of Moonsea (CoA's NWN2 'sister server') is already in the pre-alpha and already has something in mind so maybe a few interested folks could link up with him and start planning early. happycrow is his forum account. -
happycrow here or on the ToM forums?

Pledges are back up, you can now buy yourself pre alpha or alpha acess again.
