Changes to PrCs: Feedback
-
The DMs are not looking down any secret tick list when they consider applications for PrCs. They are looking for that magical "Something". The "Something" that has already changed the mundane PC into the spectacular. PrC's are for the creme-de-la-creme of characters, the characters that are changing things by their actions.
A player wanting Purple Dragon Knight PrC needs to be leading, and to be leading, he needs followers, PCs who go where he commands, because of who he is and where he'll take them, not because someone else told them to obey him. A player wishing to be Divine Champion needs to really stand out for his faith and deity. This isn't just running some quests in the name of The God of Hell Fire, but embodying the dogma, living the dogma when the chips are down, not hiring the guild hall and preaching to two other bored players and buying the Robes of Krond from Fharz, it's about standing up for the deity against the odds. The Champion will be gathering round him PCs of a like mind who are following his lead. You want to be a weapons master? This is much more about "becoming the weapon" than having an AB on that weapon greater than the next PC. People need to speak of your PC and your weapon in the same breath. "We need The Kukri!" not "We need fred, 'cos he Crit's well with those dual wielded badass weapons he got from a DM last week." You need to be gathering disciples around you who wish to learn the Secret of the Kukri.
At the end of the day, if PCs are not gathering round your PC like moths around a candle, your PC is probably not PrC material. PrCs are a reward for awesome characterisation and inclusive roleplay, not for creative writing skills and applications full of goals you'll never bother to even look at once you have the nod from the DMs. The PrC is about what your character has already done, not what you plan to do with it.
PrC's are hard to achieve, harder than subraces or DM Factions, because they represent The Elite.

I love this. Along with hidden levels/classes. Amazing changes that minimize Metagaming and seriously open the door to some awesome creativity. I can't wait to see what comes out of it.
Cheers.

Just be wary of arcane archer apps that start taking levels early… :wink:

@Amy:
I agree to the above. If they have power, it's because they earned it.
Or because they can write apps.
What i really would hate to see is more of the current trend you know grind your ass off to 7+then start pvping ..only now you can do it as a WM or a FTR/PM.The levels are hidden, you can grind to level 7, then walk wham into the guy who grinded to level 12.

I'd guess they'll either cap the PrC, or change something so you aren't roaming around with a +5 machine gun at level 10
