Where did your character name come from?
-
After starting a character using the NWN AUTO NAME GENERATOR I had to go back to the drawing board, because if you use that then everyone ends up with the same last name and "Justin Sane" doesn't look bad when you're quickly trying to fire up a character but once you say it out loud you realize the auto name generator is an asshole.
I got a new IRC client one day and tried to log in to #coa. I say "new" as in "new to me but actually some horrible text terminal program written in the early days of the Interwebs with a blue screen and white text and all. With no help file, no onscreen help or anything I went through the following:
Terminal IRC client (TIC): Nick?
I figured someone was looking for someone named Nick so I typed:
No
TIC: Not valid Nick, try again.
Me: Quit calling me Nick
TIC: Quit not a valid command, must be proceeded with / or .
Me: #CoA
TIC: Logging in
TIC: Nick?
Me: Nick
TIC: Nick is already taken, consider trying Nick0After another 5 minutes of this it finally said
TIC: Welcome to channel #CoA Nikko.
That's when I realized it meant "username" or "alias" or "login name".
All my other names of things lying around the room with some letters changed around: Shoe, hand door becomes Shae Handor . Can't miss strategy.

Curious enough. I think Rav is also Hebrew for Rabbi.

Amraphen is a pretty normal surname in Faerûn. -
Well since I started this thread I should probably say how I came up with Alexis Lightfell. She is not-that-loosely based off Chris Lightfellow from Suikoden 3, so the last name obviously came from there. I wanted another name that would be shortened to a gender-neutral name, and Alexis is one of my favorite girl's names so I just picked it. Got rid of the ow in the last name because I didn't want it to be too obvious who I based it off of.
